Family getaway in Cala Finestrat

I stayed in the Sydney apartment at Cala Finestrat for one week in the middle of August.
As we were only holidaying for a week we decided against renting a car. Joan arranged for us to be picked up from the airport and dropped off directly outside the apartment where we were greeted by the man who looks after the apartment.
The apartment was everything it stated on the website. The beach was only a short walk down a slight hill and the view from the main balcony is exactly as it is in the property pictures.
The pool at the apartments was on the small side but never that busy. We only used it a couple of times as we preferred the beach and the sea.
The cafes and bars on the beach are all very nice and the prices are very reasonable.
The beach itself is superb. I couldn't find a single pebble on it. The sea was also lovely and shallow. You could walk out about 100 feet and the water would still only be at chest height.We bought a couple of cheap lilos from one of the shops at the beach, however, these did have a tendency to blow across the beach if left unattended, as the refreshing sea breeze could be quite strong at times (watch out for flying beach umbrellas). The beach, although small looking on the website, has ample room for everyone. The Spanish get there early but all disappear at lunchtime and return about four or five o'clock.
During our stay there was a market,on the road at the bottom of the apartments, which I understand is there twice a week, selling just about everything you could ever need. The fruit is about half the price it is in the shops.Also, most nights, there was a market at the beach, ideal for buying junk jewellery and leather goods.
We went into Benidorm by bus a couple of times, only 5 euros for a family of four, and got taxis back, about 10 euros.
Terra Mitica is great, but as with all Theme parks, be prepared to queue for some rides.Aqualandia was good, but the rings you can hire are very very heavy and not ideal for small children to manoeuvre.
All in all we had a very lovely holiday and have recommended the apartment and the area to our relatives with younger children.
