Self-catering rental of house very close to Fins beach. Large garden with barbecue. Year round holidays, ideal for a romantic weekend, with beautiful beaches and the stunning Eastern Hajar Mountain range behind the home. A wonderful centre for touring and sightseeing the historical coast of Oman. See Qalhat where Ibn Battuta visited or visit the world's second largest cave on top of the mountains. Forts and ancient heritage and stunning geographical features. Situated between the coastal towns of Sur and Quriyat famous for their forts and fishing industry.

Relax: All rooms are air conditioned. Dining for 6. Sleeping for 5. One double bedroom. One twin bedroom and one single bedroom. Single beds all 120 cm for excellent comfort. All bedrooms have tv. Internet connection available for your laptop, but speed is slow and sometimes intermittent. Please ask in advance. Garden with barbecue. Beach is ten minutes walk. Fine swimming. Good year round temperatures.

Centre for touring: Fins is in the centre of a historic and geologically interesting area. Quriyat fort, Sur town, Bimmah sinkhole, Wadi Shab with year round flowing water and swimming, Turtle viewing, Gazelle, Camels, fantastic birdlife, stars galore and quietness! Mountain walks in Eastern Hajar mountain range up to 2000m.

You are half a km from the village of Fins. You will be staying in one of the most unchanged landscapes in the world. It is like going back many years in time.

About Mrs Al Busaidi

We are an Omani / English family and have always enjoyed the ability to move around the world staying in homes rather than hotels. Our house here is the first of its type in Oman. It will probably remain the only one too because building regulations do not permit building in this old style any longer. You will be staying in part of the history of Oman. Originally goats would have lived on the property, but now you will see them wander past the house looking in enviously as they go to graze!

Why Mrs Al Busaidi chose Oman

Houses do not come up for sale in Oman often. Normally famillies live in them for many generations passing them down to their children. We wanted a house with space where we could entertain our family and yet have privacy with our own children, hence the beach house outside the old village. This is what we wanted to pass on to our guests from all around the world. Hopefully we will be able to find more properties like this in the future to share.

Coastal towns of Quriyat and Sur with their souks and ancient castles. The ship building yards of Sur. See Vultures, Eagles, Camels and the rare Arabian Gazelle nearby the house. Visit Ras Al Hadd, the breeding ground of turtles. Stunning beaches and opportunities for off road driving walking and exploration. Muscat, with shopping centres and gift shops is under a two hour drive.

Notes: You will have the use of the 8m Kitchen/Diner with 5 hob cooker and all cooking utensils. If there is something special you need, please ask. There is a store room next to kitchen with washing machine, iron and ironing board. Here you will also find cool boxes and beach equipment. There is a 12m Veranda around the Sitting room for you to relax and a permanent barbecue socked with charcoal. Cooking outside is easy here! Smoking is NOT ALLOWED INSIDE, but outside, considerate smokers are welcome. Please note that Oman does not allow the public consumption of alcohol, but you may drink alcohol privately on the property. High Chair for young children will be supplied upon request along with playpen. We have 3 Kayaks which may be borrowed upon written request at your responsibility.

Excellent, well equipped arabian experience

We are just back from a fantastic 10 days in Oman. We used Fins Beach House as our main base after 2 nights in Muscat and our only regret is that we didn't stay longer. The location is excellent for exploring much of the east coast, Wadis, Desert (2 hours drive), Sink hole or just relaxing on one of the beaches nearby. We were there with two youngish (4 & 6yrs) children and so it was much more relaxing to be in a house than a hotel. We ate mainly in the house or had picnics or evening BBQ on the beach.

The house is very clean, well equipped (kitchen, washing machine, BBQ/parasols/chairs etc for the beach, toys/board games, DVD), spacious (garden, dining areas inside and out, charming omani sitting room, 3 beds rooms with en suite), air conditioned.

Tips for future visitors: make sure you do a big grocery shop in Muscat or one of the nearby bigger towns before arriving as the local shops are very limited. I would also recommend getting beach shoes as some of beaches have rocky bits and the shoes also good for Wadi Shab. Bring snorkel and masks - lots of few fishes to see.

Thanks again to Fawatim & Anthony for wonderful experience - we will definitely be recommendeing to friends and family and hope, one day, to return.

Fantastic home in great location!!

The house and the location far exceeded our expectations. As previous reviewers had mentioned the house was well equipped. We had breakfast, prepared packed lunches and had dinner in the kitchen. The room was large and the bed was comfortable. We used the living room (majlis) to read and played (own) guitar. There were many board games to play if you wish to do so. The house was walking distance to the beach and there were many attrations nearby. Initially we thought that 4 days was too long but there were many more places we wished we had time to visit. In hindsight we should have come straight from muscat airport to the house and stayed longer at the Beach House. The guide book available in the house helped us planned our trips and the information from the owners were very good.

Review from our 14 year old son - The night sky was beautiful, especially from the roof terrace. I like the privacy of the house, its like we were the only ones in oman. I enjoyed going to the wadi where the water was crystal clear. My fav spot was Bimmah sinkhole.

What a fantastic destination

The Fins beach house is an absolutely beautiful, tastefully renovated place at a unique spot in a beautiful country. The description on internet totally lives up to everything it has to offer. The owner, Mrs Fawatim, welcomed us and even left us a sweet candy X-Mas tree.
The only less positive thing I can think of is the lack of a supermarkt in the vicinity. The closest one is in Sur which is half an hours drive away. When Mrs Fawatim came to say goodbye when we were leaving she told us that we could have ordered groceries with our reservation. She would than have taken care of those. How is that regarding customer service..........

A very nice place to stay

We were 5 persons staying at The Beach House for 8 days. The owner met us in Muscat with keys and drivingdirections to the house and before and during our stay they were vey helpfull if any problems turned up. The house were comfortable and the surrounding area was fantastic with "your own beach" only 5-10 minutes walk away. At Fins we found a small bakery and foodstuff-shop, but in Sur and Quriyat we could buy almost everything in the supermarkeds. We have trips to Wahiba Sands, Wadi Shab and the Sinkhole at Bimmah. We also visited the turtlebeach at Ras Al Junaiz, which was an extraordinary experience.
Breakfast in the morning and dinner in the evening on the Beach House varanda were also memorable things from Oman.
We surely will recommend this Beach House to anybody who want something different and more than an ordinary vaccations, and we all hope to return to Fins Beach House some day.

Fins beach house

We had a wonderful weekend here. The beach house is well equipped and very comfortable.The short distance from Muscat makes it a perfect weekend getaway. There is plenty of space for 2 familes or a group of friends to share the house. There is a lovely beach less than 5 minutes walk away and other great beaches and the sink hole are a short drive away. We will certainly come back and and enjoy the facility again.
