|Minimum Stay||4 - 5 nights|
My Wife Linda and i discovered the 'Forgotten Coast' some time back, thanks to a friend's reccomendation. Ever since we first came to the St. Joe Beach area, we fell in love with its peace, tranquility and relaxed way of life.
Life can be stressfull, and we think its vital to have somewhere to get away from the craziness of everyday life and relax.
We sincerely hope you enjoy our house and will do anything we can to make sure your stay is as memorable as it is relaxing.
Welcome to Pelican Haven......walk on the beach, collect shells, watch the dolphins and the sunsets.....and RELAX..

I'm a sales manager in North Alabama, and my wife Linda runs an internet business. We have three dogs and two cats and live north of Birmingham AL.
We LOVE the beach and come to St Joe beach and Port St Joe any chance we have to get away. We have made many new friends in the area and have the best neighbors in St Joe beach.
Andy or Linda Cave purchased this house in 2011
Its a fairly short drive from most anywhere in the Southeast. The beach is gorgeous, the lifestyle and folks are friendly, relaxed. There are numerous good places to eat, as well as locally caught seafood in abundance.
After many years staying in hotels, its a different world vacationing in a real home. We have taken great care to furnish this home for our guests, and we have provided many things that we found lacking in other rental homes that we have stayed at over the years. The furniture is all new, There are TV's in each room, The mattresses are top quality. We provide quality linens and bath towels. And there is no need to pack a bulky beach towel - we got that covered too! We also decided to provide Directv HD sattelite instead of the local cable service as thats what we have in our home. High speed internet, Unlimited local and long distance calling is provided. We provide large beach towels, beach chairs and umbrellas, a good selection of family friendly DVD's and a great selection of kids toys and games. You are even welcome to use our bikes to cruise the neighborhood and the bike paths.
The house has a very private fully fenced large backyard, with an outdoor private shower, and a fully screened porch. There is a gas grill with tools and propane is provided for you - if you are in the mood for a cook-out.
The kitchen comes furnished with everything to make your stay easy and relaxed. There is even a coffee bean grinder. A crock pot, toaster oven and a blender.
The beach is extremely close. (220 steps from your front door) The Dollar General store is a hop skip and a jump away! It is stocked with grocery items, snacks and (almost anything) else you may need. You can hear the ocean from the house. Port St. Joe is only a ten minute drive, and the Mexico Beach pier is also only a ten minute drive.
There are many great places to eat, and the local supermarket in Port St Joe sells great locally caught fish and shrimp if you want to come home and grill out.
We love our house at the beach, and we think you will too.
I had the best time at this wonderful home by the beach. The home was clean and completely equipped. The pictures on the listing are absolutely accurate, and the owners were so helpful and kind.
Its only a very short drive to Appalachicola and St Josephs Penninsula. Port St Joe and the marina are only ten minutes away and really nice to walk around.
The beach is two minutes walk and was just beautiful. If you like to collect shells, this is for you. The whole area around the home is relaxed and quiet, and we made friends with some of the neighbors.
I cant wait to come back again next fall!!
We stayed here with our dog for the month of February 2015. It was wonderful not dealing with the unending snowstorms and terrible weather in the northeast. Florida was unseasonably cool and we often wore slacks and long sleeve shirts. Despite the temps, it was mainly sunny and the beach was beautiful for walking. The house is set up with everything you need and situated one block back from Rt 98, which is good. Beach is just on the other side of that road and walk from house to beach is easy. Furniture is comfortable and we found kitchen/pantry, etc. was well supplied. Whatever we used, we just replaced if we did not buy/bring our own. One thing to note: I had visions of pushing my dog out the back door into the fenced yard every morning while I wandered around in my pajamas fixing coffee, etc. However, backyard and screen room in backyard can only be accessed by gate at back end of driveway, outside of home's entry door - no "lazy-in-your-bathrobe" way to do it without giving the neighbors more than they bargained for! That wasn’t terrible though; it just meant we got dressed and took her out and we walked, which she liked better anyway. We did enjoy the decor and colors of the home and spent a good deal of time there reading, eating in, watching TV, using our laptop, etc., just like at home. This was a good thing since the visit was a of a longer duration. We visited Apalachicola twice, which husband really liked. I enjoyed Cape San Blas and we drove to Panama City Beach one day and also the place where the dead lakes are. We ate at most all the restaurants in the area at one time or another. We had our fill of oysters (liked Indian Pass Trading Post in Indian Pass and Boss Oysters in Apalachicola) and shrimp. Husband went out twice with “Fish’n Express” and caught red snapper and grouper, which we enjoyed both there and now here at home! The dog and I enjoyed our daily walks on the beach. And husband and I also liked the Lookout Lounge, which is a weird little bar/package store right near the time zone line (in Mexico Beach area) that reminded us of a place we used to visit in our "old days". We had a great time visiting this area in Florida and Andy and Linda made it easy for us as first-time VRBO users to navigate through the process. You guys are the best – come up and eat some lobster with us sometime!
This was definitely a home away from home. Just bring your clothes and you're ready to go! My family stayed at Pelican Haven in June of 2014 and we were pleased that it had all of the amenities we needed, was exceptionally clean for a rental, and the owners were very gracious and accommodated our needs! We had a scheduling conflict with the original booked date and they allowed us to reschedule to another open block of time without any hassle at all. The property does not have any steps from the private driveway into the house and is an open format, so it is very accessible. The two bedrooms have very comfortable beds and nice closets and dressers. The bathrooms are clean and shower has great water pressure with detachable hand held shower head (for little kids who are sandy from the beach). The kitchen contains everything you need for cooking meals when you dine in and service for 6 or 8 people (bowls, cups, plates, silverware) plus pots, pans, strainers, and serving utensils. The owners have labeled all cabinets and drawers to help guests return any items to the proper spot (which came in very handy when unloading dishwasher or washing/restocking towels and sheets!). The shed has bikes, beach chairs, umbrellas, sand buckets and many other things for guest use so you don't have to spend your money on them or haul them from home! The house is located just across Hwy 98. It is less than a 5 minute walk and has direct boardwalk beach access directly across the road. It really is the most convenient, clean, and well appointed property that we have found in the area for this price. Andy and Linda Cave were awesome to work with - very friendly and helpful and responded quickly. We will definitely choose Pelican Haven when we come back to St. Joe Beach!
The Port St. Joe area is a nice, quiet little place to relax and get away from everything. It's a great place to go if you just want to relax on the beach because it's not crowded and there isn't much out there. Pelican Haven was very clean and cozy, and had everything we needed.
Great location , friendly neighbors , clean and comfortable . Walked to beach every day and night for fabulous sunsets . We will be back !
Place was very comfortable, clean, and nicely decorated.
Peaceful and happy place.
My husband, myself and our 3 year old granddaughter stayed for the Labor Day holiday. We had such an amazing time. The beds were so comfortable, we did not want to leave just because we loved the beds so much. We played on the beach and then went to St. George Island and had an amazing day there. Went to the State park another day and had so much fun picking up shells. Just an overall amazing time. We will be staying again. Did not want to leave.
Sun, Sand, and Surf is why we come to this beach. But there are a lot more things here for you to fall in love with too. This area is referred to as the forgotten coast as it is unspoiled like Old Florida - free of heavy commercialization. St.Joe Beach is a great place on the panhandle for family and friends to enjoy the beach and wonderful sunshine
Sheltered by St. Joseph Peninsula, Mexico Beach has no UNDERTOW. So the whole family can swim safely, wade, snorkel, and find seashells along the white sandy beaches. These beaches are among the best in the United States. It just doesn’t get much better than this!
A must visit and only thirty minute drive is the quaint, historic fishing village, of Apalachicola. Sports Ilustrated used the beaches of St George Island for their photo shoot, Octobert of 2011. And St. Vincent National Wildlife Refuge, in Franklin County, Florida, is an undeveloped barrier island just offshore from the mouth of the Apalachicola River, in the Gulf of Mexico
