The perfect beach holiday pad
Thirty-One Degrees at beautiful Oak Beach is literally an absolute beachfront. Positioned where the World Heritage Rainforest meets the crystal warm waters of the World Heritage Barrier Reef – the setting of this rainforest-protected house is the stuff of tropical dreams.
It’s no wonder the beach house has been favoured by many design and lifestyle magazines including Harpers Bazaar, Vogue and marie claire. Conde Nast Traveller UK named thirty-one degrees in its international beach house feature as one of the ‘Best Beach Houses in the World’ – an accolade that acknowledges a functional, unpretentious beach house with style.
Interior architect David Katon, of renowned Australian design team BKH, revamped the original solid 1970s fisherman’s cottage into a contemporary beach home that is simple, relaxed and modernist. The house has an inside/outside appeal, encapsulated in a generous open-plan lounge/dining area that opens out to the pool deck and beach. Huge 600 x 600 black slate stone floors and a fresh white palette dominates the interior, which features modernist designer pieces (note the iconic Fritz Hansen chairs) giving dramatic contrast to the tropical greenery, sandy beaches and turquoise sea. Louvered glass walls and a central breezeway ensure the house is always fresh.
Oak Beach is arguably the most desirable beach in the area due to its privacy, soft white sand and pristine condition.
With its own private pool, roof deck and an abundance of lounging areas – thirty-one degrees is the ultimate easygoing retreat that has everything you want and nothing you don’t. Truly Paradise Found.
