Attractions Part I:
Depending on your own wishes, the possibilities to spent your holiday-time are unlimited: Apart from the obove-
mentionned narrow-gauge railway that goes regularly (timetable available in the cottage, stop 200 metres
from the house) between Balatonfenyves and Smogyszentpal, there are several interesting destinations for
bicycle tours along the romantic water canals that run through the countryside, e.g. Cistapuszta (5 km), a
small theral bath, Lake Balaton (10 km) and from there even further along the cycle path to e.g. Keszthely.
In addition, you may visit Hubertus and farm in Balatonfenyves or go fishing at the water canals.
Attractions Part II:
Our cottage ist supposed to be an alternative to the 'Balaton-Balaman-fuss', however, Lake Balaton
as seaside resort and as Europe's biggest lake is especially in the unhurried evening a beautiful place
to enjoy th sunset in perfect tranquility. Moreover, there ar several thermal bath nerby, Marcali (6 km),
and Cistapuszta (5 km) aswell as the world-famous Heviz with th biggest thermal sea in Europe. Its temperature
is constantly around 20 degrees so that you can take a bath no matter what season or take advantage
of the wide range of health treatments and massages at reasonnable prices.
Attractions Part III:
City trips and/or pure nature: First of all you may make a day-trip to Budapest. You can go either by car or by train (both take about 2 hours for 160 km), first to Balatonfenyves in order to get on the express train (train connections available in the cottage). You als may visit Keszthely, the capital of the Balaton with the famous castle fo Festics with the park or the old city Veszprem which a lovely castle (35 km). Anonther worthwhile trip would be the nature reserve Kis-Balaton (the so-called 'little balaton') 20 km, one of the biggest nature reserves in Hungary, streching around the lake. The penninsula Tihany at Lake Balaton shoud be kept in mind.
