Beautiful Wellfleet Geiger-Phillips architect-designed 4 bedroom custom home (2300 sq ft) with all amenities nestled in the woods of Wellfleet - only 1 mile to the center of town and marina. 3 beaches on the bayside (flat, warmer, kid-friendly) are nearby and 3 more on the oceanside (waves, surf, national seashore) are a 5 minute drive. This home borders conservation land, national seashore and the Herring River offering a peaceful oasis with amazing sunsets and birds.
House has an open plan upstairs, beautiful large deck for relaxing and grilling, and a king-bed master suite with its own private deck. Downstairs are 3 more bedrooms and 1.5 baths. 2 car garage, privacy, and quiet on a dead-end cul-de-sac.
Wellfleet is one of the most inviting communities for vacationing on Cape Cod thanks to its many bayside and oceanside beaches (and the secret kettle-ponds for fresh-water swimming), acres of national seashore for walking, hiking and birding.
Wellfleet is also an arts and culture center on the Cape with the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theatre, Preservation Hall, Payomet (Truro), Harbor Stage Company, tons of galleries plus tons of offerings in nearby Provincetown.
The recreational possibilities are numerous -- biking, kayaking, surfing, and fishing. Biking in the Province Lands trail is like visiting another planet with its sand dunes and hills (by Cape Cod standards). Want to charter a boat for deep-sea fishing or whale-watching? A week at the sailing club down the street? All of this and more is a few minutes away.
If you are in a shopping mood the Wellfleet flea market draws visitors from all over the Cape and at night you can go to the drive-in (or the movie theaters).
Our house has everything you need for a memorable summer vacation - location, comfort, wireless internet and cable, a fully-equipped kitchen. All renters will receive our custom guide to the neighborhood - restaurant recommendations, favorite walks, rainy-day ideas and more.

Jeff Behrens purchased this house in 2012
We have traveled around the world, but still find that our hearts belong in New England. As a kid I used to visit my grandparents on the Cape and was finally able to buy a beautiful house with my wife in Wellfleet. We love the beaches, the walks, the culture and the community here. The house is in a super quiet area surrounded by woods up on a hill. No traffic -- just the sounds of owls at night and great star gazing.
Amazing open-floor plan custom home and deck designed to capture the light at all times of the day. Main deck faces west to enjoy summer sunsets. Each of the larger bedrooms has a private deck too so there is always a place to get away and read or birdwatch.
Wellfleet has the best beaches, restaurants, and culture on the Cape. It's a short drive to Provincetown and 15 minutes to Orleans.
Great walks from the house along the marsh in the National Seashore. Sunsets on Duck Harbor Beach are the best. In the morning bike down to PB's for fresh-baked French pastries and coffee or just take the untraveled back roads to Truro. In the afternoon stop by the wonderful Wellfleet library (5 minute bike ride from the house) or walk down to the harbor for some amazing seafood at Mac's. If it's a warm day you can take a quick dip on one of the clean, warm kettle ponds and then enjoy an outdoor shower back at the house.
Thanks for a great visit to Wellfleet. The house is in a nice, quiet neighborhood but still close to downtown, beaches, and lakes. Lots of light, great deck, and plenty of space. The kitchen is terrific and well-equipped for real cooking.
This is a spacious home with a very large deck which is great for family cook outs.
To us the best feature of this home is its location. It is in a very quiet location that is just a few minutes from a both a few pond beaches and a few ocean beaches. You can get to all of these beaches with having to go onto Route 6 which is usually busy on any summer day.
On several days we swam in the pond in the morning and the ocean beaches in the afternoon.
My grandkids loved being able to go to both pond and ocean beaches in the same day.
We very much enjoyed our week and would certainly rent this home next year.
I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for beautiful home in a private setting just far enough from “downtown” Wellfleet to be quiet. The house is lovely: clean, spacious, tastefully appointed, and thoughtfully stocked with all appropriate housewares. The large deck sits in the treetops, and is sunny most of the day. The kitchen is not huge, but it works. The living room and all bedrooms/baths were perfect. Jeff was a most helpful landlord. We would absolutely rent this property again.
We can't say enough about this fantastic house. SUPER clean and modern, everything in working order, perfectly situated just a short ride to Wellfleet center. Just like the photos (even better). Would come back in a heartbeat. Great walk-in closet in the master bedroom! Jeff and Lori were super nice and very responsive with any questions as well. Couldn't have asked for a better house!
This is a lovely home, in a quiet location and looked just like the photos - clean, attractive, comfortable. The configuration of the house was perfect for our group of 6 adults. The owners are very accomodating & responsive to questions/concerns. We were there during a very hot week of summer and following the owners suggestions re cooling, we were very comfortable. That has not been our experience in other rentals in Wellfleet. The kitchen is fully stocked for people who like to cook. It was an easy place to spend a week. We were very happy with our choice and can't wait to go back.
We we two families with children for the week and we really enjoyed the house. It is clean, big with a lot of windows.
This house's greatest virtue is its location: it is located at the end of a road, on a cul-de-sac, and is very quiet. But, no water views, which I greatly miss. No water access, even with a walk. But it is close to town and NO RTE. 6 driving needed to get to town.
The space is good, with (grand)kids downstairs and a private deck off the master bedroom for the adults. Not a huge house; despite the bed count, I would not want more than three or four adults and a few kids here. Downstairs is a touch stuffy and damp; upstairs is a touch too hot (big deck off the living room, but if you forget to lower the blinds before the afternoon sun hits, it becomes way too hot).
We had a problem with the cleaning (cleaners apparently left long before they had finished the job, leaving dirt in the kitchen and unwashed bathrooms). The owners were VERY RESPONSIVE when I reported this. They offered to send the cleaners back, but by then I had spent the first two hours of my vacation cleaning myself and did not want any more intrusions. They fired that cleaning crew and hired a new one (who came to inspect the house, another bit of vacation time lost!).
House is very well-equipped, for the most part. Stove could stand to be renovated or replaced, but the dishes, pots/pans, and silverware were new and excellent (best I have found in a Wellfleet cottage).
My dog was very happy there, and I am grateful to Jeff and Lori for allowing a dog-friendly house.
Within 1.5 miles of 3 bayside beaches and 2 miles from 3 oceanside beaches. Great fresh water kettle ponds with parking pass. Easy access to all beaches without driving on Route 6. Don't miss the sunsets over Duck Harbor Beach! Extraordinary birding. Many walking trails since homes is adjacent to conservation land.
