La Pisa is a small family run guest house known for warm hospitality and excellent cuisine. Located in the pretty village of Aniezo, Cantabria, Northern Spain, it is ideally placed to visit either popular tourist venues or get off the beaten track and explore the Picos de Europa. The hotel is open all year round and has 8 en-suite rooms, bar, restaurant, terrace, garden and private parking. It is 40 minutes to the nearest beach. The village is located near Potes in the Liebana valley, considered the sunniest in the Picos! The pretty village green is a place to relax and picnic along the banks of the brook and is a good starting point for local walks or mountain bike trails. You will find peace and tranquillity in this beautiful setting with spectacular mountain scenery and beautiful grassy slopes filled with wild flowers. Outdoor activities are numerous including walking, mountaineering, mountain biking, canoeing, climbing and canoeing. We run painting and photography holidays.

The local market town of Potes is only a 10 minute drive and beyond you will find the spectacular cable car ride from Fuente De to the top of the Picos! The Liebana valley is full of pretty farming villages to visit where you can try local cheese and wine. The Sotama visitor centre gives you a real feel for life in the area and how the valley looks in all seasons. The popular walks to Tresviso and the Cares gorge are close by. Nearby Santander is an elegant city where you can boutique shop and try the tapas. Nearby beaches offer sandy or rocky coves and some of the most beautiful coastal scenery on the Costa Verde. The pretty fishing village of Llanes and San Vicente are well worth a visit.

Our young family of five had a wonderful time at La Pisa with John and Gwen.

The food was absolutely delightful and very high in quality - some of the best food I've ever eaten. John (who does the cooking) was also very flexible to accomodate our children's various tastes which was very much appreciated by them.

John and Gwen themselves are lovely and excellent hosts. A significant plus point of the stay was the general chat with John and Gwen (and other guests and locals) in the bar. There is a very friendly vibe in general at La Pisa, with everyone talking with each other. They were also really good with our children.

The location is also beautiful - the scenery is magnificent (the views from both the windows in our bedroom were stunning) and the village is very picturesque and good to walk around, and safe for the children to roam around.

There was plenty to do in the area, with some beaches just about being a comfortable drive away, a lovely town called Potes nearby and plenty of caves and cable cars to entertain if you've had your fill of walking and soaking up the scenery. There is also no sign whatsoever of drunken brits on club 18 30 holidays with chronic sun burn.

I would recommend a stay at La Pisa and am very happy that we chose to go there and Cantabria in general.

Fantastic break to the 'picos' the hosts (John & Gwyn) were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. The food amazing and rooms spotless. The help and guidence was invaluble. Will definitely recomend it and will certainly return.

Hi, thanks for a wonderful break in your lovely mountain hamlet. The weather was kind to us, the food and hospitality superb, back to the rotten UK weather! We will miss the flowers and spectacular views as well as the relaxing atmosphere, the gourmet food and the chat! This is a gem of a place, missing it already.

A great weekend break - just too short

Had a great weekend break - just too short. The guest-house was beautiful and the food excellent. Have already recommended it to friends and hope to be back ourselves some time. Pass on our thanks to John and Gwyneth - they were great hosts and guides. Visited Santillana del Mar en route back to airport and it was fantastic - needed a full day there really so must come again.
