RIVERBLUFF HOME OVERLOOKING ST. CROIX NEAR DOWNTOWN STILLWATER

Stillwater House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 3-7)

Enjoy gorgeous vistas of the St. Croix River on spacious decks outside an attractive, unique home featuring a lofted bedroom, open beams, and expansive river views from all living, cooking, dining and sleeping areas.

Master bedroom loft, with private bathroom and shower, features skylights for those who love sleeping under the moon and stars and clear-story windows looking out to the river. The living area has wood floors, a couch with pull-out bed, and a library to curl up with a good book. The kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances and a solid bamboo floor. The antique-style main floor bath includes a claw-foot tub with shower extension and pull-chain toilet. It is adjacent to a large second bedroom with a separate outside entrance and bunk-style futon that sleeps two on the bottom and one on the upper bunk.

This is a beautiful, restful place to relax, read, hike, bike and connect to the outdoors. Grill steaks while sipping wine and enjoying a wide variety of birds that visit feeders near the decks; watch blue herons, eagles and boats cruise the river. Walk downtown and enjoy Stillwater’s historic main street with fabulous restaurants, boutiques, antiques stores, charming old pubs, beautiful parks and the historic lift bridge.

Because this house sits high on the river bluff, the gravel driveway is steep and can be challenging for motorcycles (or anyone who doesn’t like steep slopes). But the vista is worth the climb!

I am a construction project manager and have lived in Stillwater for more than 30 years. Stillwater accommodates all my favorite hobbies including fly fishing, kayaking, motorcycling, camping, gardening and building.

The Owner purchased this house in 2002

Since I'm spending free time with my fiancé Cindy, I decided to open my own home to vacation rental as I don't want to part with it. The location is great and I've put my own personality and love-of-the-outdoors style into my home. I think you'll enjoy it.

I can spend hours with binoculars and a good brew watching raptors from my deck. Since I was a kid, I wanted to live up high -- like on a mountain. While the river bluff isn't a mountain, it's as beautiful.

Fantastic Views of the St. Croix River Valley

Thank you for a great stay! The home was cozy and comfortable with great views of the St. Croix River Valley! This home has great views of the beauty outdoors from many, many windows.
Our dogs loved staying at your home! Thank you for making the dogs welcomed and the numerous gourmet dog treats! Thank you for the generous gift basket with many, many wonderful foods and treats.
We especially enjoyed the great, fully equipped kitchen! We were able to easily host a family picnic and the kitchen had it all! Some family dined in and some al fresco on the spacious deck outdoors.
The library was very enjoyable with many great books on the shelves. I especially enjoyed the book with all the photography work of Lake Superior and the architecture/decorating book on “Rustic Elegance”.
We did spot two Bald Eagles in flight one of the days. River watching from the deck, the living room and the loft were great! Star gazing and catching sightings of the moon through the skylights in the loft and through the front windows from the living room or kitchen were mighty fine!
Stillwater and the entire St. Croix River Valley on both the Minnesota and Wisconsin sides is great for sightseeing and activities abound.
Thank you – thank you, so much, for a memorable week!

Pleasant Place for Relaxation

We enjoyed our week at the cottage. The owners were very helpful and quick to respond when needed, and the proximity to Stillwater is great if you plan to enjoy the many restaurants and shops in town. Be prepared for the hilly roads all around though if you are a walker. The deck is quite large and a great place for the whole family to gather. Highly recommended for two couples or a family with children -- especially with the separation between the two bedrooms. Lots of privacy.

What a great place! We have stayed in vacation rentals all over the world and would rate this at the top of our list. Cindy & Dave were very attentive to any of our questions and requests. They often left us little goodies from the local markets. The house was charming..perched on an outlook over the river, birds visited often. Our little dog loved watching the squirrels and chippys out the large windows. The house was VERY clean, and well outfitted. This was a perfect place for us to transition back to the US and Minnesota from living abroad. We stayed for a month, but would have loved to stay a lot longer.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your nice comments and for being such great guests...even keeping the bird feeders full! We would love to have you stay again and wish you the best in all your adventures.

Relaxing and comfortable stay

We chose this property as a base for visiting family in the city. It was the perfect place for a getaway. The house was well-furnished for guests with a lot of special touches -- we loved the growlers and iphone setup for music. The deck was great and offered a comfortable and relaxing setting to enjoy any time of the day. The high windows allowed you to see the views from almost every room. The owners were also very responsive and helpful and you can tell they have a lot of pride in their home. Thanks for a great stay.

What a great find this was! From the first correspondence between Cindy & myself, we have nothing but the highest praise for the owners, the property and the St. Croix Valley area. Imagine that you need a vacation (like that is hard to do) and your priorities are a great location with lots of things to do, a great house (wait until you see the Welcome basket) to come home to after your daily adventures (and believe me you will have them), numerous downtown restaurants (we recommend The Green Room) and picture perfect weather. Well look no farther than Stillwater, Minnesota. Land of fabulous parks, especially Interstate Park, friendly, helpful locals and just an all around great vacation spot. I dare you to become bored with the great view of the St. Croix River while sitting on the porch, sipping whatever it is your sipping and listening to the amazing array of tunes from Dave's ( the homeowners) iPod. I could go on and on but by now I am sure you get the picture. We will definitely be coming back. Already thinking about next Fall to see the foliage colors. Thanks again to Cindy & Dave for everything!
