Born and raised in Southern Illinois, I love the outdoors and enjoy horseback riding, cattle ranching, fishing and hunting, and spending time with my family. I am a heavy equipment operator and business owner in Southern Illinois.

Growing up here and loving the beautiful rolling hills of Southern Illinois and its variety of attractions I want to share it with others who would like to getaway from their everyday lives to relax and unwind.
We are on the Shawnee Hills wine trail an incredible tour for those who like something unique to our area, this is an unbelievable experience of countryside, great wine and people. The Shawnee Hills Wine Trail features 13 wineries, 13 experiences, located 10 minutes of one another and surrounded by the Shawnee National Forest.
The 278,537 acres of natural beauty in the Shawnee National Forest is ideal for outdoor recreation. The forest landscape features rolling hills, forests, open lands, lakes, creeks and rugged bluffs. The forest has a system of 403 miles of equestrian/hiking trails, camping and picnic areas.
Or you may opt to stay in at Cedar Sunset Cabin for your private soak in the hot tub and incredible views of the sunset over the lake with a cozy evening by the fireplace.
This is such a pretty cabin. Great view of 2 lakes. Woke up to cows each morning, and they were so much fun to watch in the evening. Really nice hot tub in back. Why not 5 stars? Just some little things...no soap at all for the shower or bathroom (this took us by surprise as we had not brought any), no shampoo, poorly stocked kitchen for someone that likes to cook, ran out of tp. Just these little things to correct and then 5 stars.
We just concluded a 3 night stay in the wonderful Cedar Sunset Cabin. It was as advertised and more. The pictures did not represent how nice the cabin really was. The hot tub was great. Location was great, short drive to some wonderful wineries and state parks. We hiked Fern Clyff and Giant City and recommend both. Visited both Blue Sky and Rustle Hill wineries only a short drive from the cabin. Few things we wish we would have known was there was no soap or shampoo provided, we brought samples but needed to buy some. At least hand soap in the bathroom would have been nice. Also, we enjoy cooking and had gourmet meals each night and the supplies were rudimentary. For just cooking basic items they were fine. All-in-all, we definitely recommend this cabin and plan on a return visit.
2nd stay here! Hope to be back again next year! It's a beautiful place! Very clean. Couldn't ask for a better place!
Absolutely lovely cabin! We had an amazing time relaxing and wandering around. We hope to come stay again soon!
What a WONDERFUL place to celebrate Valentine's Day weekend! Very secluded cabin with hot tub right outside your bedroom door....was PERFECT! Cabin was right on the Shawnee Wine Trail, off the main road just enough to give you privacy while in the hot tub. We used the grill every night, the hot tub every night and enjoyed the fireplace too. I would highly recommend this cabin to adults looking to get away from the stresses of life and re-charge their batteries! We will be going back every year from now on to celebrate Valentine's Day for sure!!
