House, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6-10)

A 2500 sf, 3 bedroom + loft, 2 1/2 bathroom home nestled on 1.5 acres at 10,000+ ft in Placer Valley with exceptional mountain views and just a 20-minute drive to Breckenridge (located just south of Hoosier Pass). Our vacation home sleeps 6 to 10 with 3 king-sized beds, 1 queen sleeper sofa, and 2 very comfortable living room sofas. One king-sized bed is made of 2 twins that are pushed together and topped with a thick memory foam topper (may be separated if 2 twins are desired). Enjoy our fully-equipped kitchen with a counter-height breakfast nook. Our open dining area comfortably sits 8 to 10. The main living area has a wood-burning stove, 40" LCD tv, and a vaulted ceiling with sky lights. Amazing mountain views can be enjoyed from the extra large deck, which has a gas grill, comfortable sectional sofa, large 2-person hammock, and a large table with seating for 8 to 10. Our home is pet-friendly (up to 2 dogs and/or cats). Hike or snowshoe around Montgomery Reservoir, hike a 14er (multiple ones are located close by), ski and dine in Breckenridge! Other popular local activities include fishing on the South Platte River, biking, rock climbing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, four wheeling, horseback riding, wildflower viewing, gold panning, and more.

Linens and a washer and dryer are provided. Four-wheel drive is highly recommended in winter. Smoke-free.

Located approximately 20 minutes from Breckenridge, 40 min from Keystone, 45 min from Copper, and 1 hr from Vail.

We live in the Denver metro area and love spending time at our mountain home with the Rocky Mountains as our playground.

Why The Owner chose Breckenridge

We bought this home in Placer Valley because it's such a beautiful location in all seasons. We think it's a secluded slice of heaven that's just a short drive to everything Breckenridge has to offer.

What makes this house unique

We love to sit out on the deck in the summer and enjoy the beautiful mountain views, cozy up in front of the wood-burning stove in the winter, and enjoy everything that the Rocky Mountains have to offer!

2 couples stayed at the house in September 2012. The house was as advertised and we were satified with the accommodations. Would stay here again.

The driveway is steep with a loose gravel covering. It could be challenging for 2WD in bad weather but was not a problem while we were there.

Foxes made routine appearances at the house.

Cool Respite from the Desert

My wife and I wanted a cool getaway from the summer in Phoenix and this location was perfect. Two of our kids and their spouses joined us for a long weekend and there was plenty of space for all of us including our two pets. The home is very clean and fully stocked with everything you need to enjoy your time there. We found a monopoly game that continued for a day or two during some of the late afternoon and evening showers in the mountains. Alma is a neat little town and we got some bratwurst at the "Al-Mart" that we grilled at the house that were scrumptious. Over the years we have stayed in three or four different VRBOs just in Colorado and this place is probably the best we have found. Catherine is super to work with and answers all questions and concerns promptly and thoroughly. We definitely would recommend her mountain home to anyone looking for a relaxing mountain experience and a great value.

Excellent rental

My family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) and our medium sized dog had a great 5 night stay at this location in Aug of 2012. They had crates already available for use with the dog when we were in town. There policies around 5 nights (or more) incented us to stay a little longer and made the overal costs very competitive. The location is particularly great if you want to spend time south in Alma or fairplay as the long (easy to drive) dirt road dumps you out on the highway south. It does add to some time though if you want to go to breckenridge because you have to backtrack (and then go over the pass).

The home was just great with a long porch that had a great table to eat at, comfortable furnature and a nice hammock. It was great to eat and lounge on the porch enjoying the mountain environment.

They were very good about follow up and refunding my deposit (we do our best to leave things in great condition). I would definitely consider renting again, particularly in the summer (I am not sure I would want to deal with having to go over the pass to Breck in the winter).

We truly enjoyed the week vacation at your home. We traveled with my parents and two dogs. The house is truly wonderful. Very nice, spacious and clean. We enjoyed daily walks around the area, nearby fishing and hiking. A great place to enjoy the outdoors and get away but close enough to see some of the popular tourist areas like Breckenridge, Frisco and Lake Dillon. What a gem!!! Look forward to coming again.

Great spots for a weekend getaway with friends

This home provides a convenient getaway for a weekend with friends or family. It's close proximity to Breckenridge, Fairplay, and surrounding peaks provides a good opportunity for hiking and other outdoor activities. The wonderful view from the balcony allows those who wish to stay-in with beautiful scenery and panoramic views.
The house is equipped with satellite TV, but be aware that there is no wifi/high speed internet - so you can really unplug. Cell phone service with T-Mobile & AT&T was good for voice/text but not for data. The home comes equipped with cooking utensils, however if you are planning a meal be sure to bring any spices, oils, ingredients that you will need as the pantry does not include condiments. We appreciated being able to bring our dogs as well. The bed we slept in was comfortable and we would definitely recommend this home to others.
