With its farm-fresh food and dynamic wines, Long Island’s North Fork is quietly becoming one of the most exciting food destinations—and it’s just two hours from Manhattan.
This cottage is the perfect place to unwind on the North Fork with a bounty of activities nearby. Vineyards, beaches, farm stands, horseback riding, hiking trails, shops & boutiques, Greenport, Shelter Island, farm-to-table restaurants, live music, museums, lighthouses, boating, an aquarium, water park, craft beer, and more.
Located in Mattituck, this cottage lies central of North Fork's famous wine trail. It is less than a mile to the famous and quaint Love Lane, with its bucolic shops including the North Fork favorite Love Lane Kitchen. Oregon Road is a simple bike ride away, where you will find charming farmhouses, a sunflower farm, and North Fork favorites Shinn Estate Vineyards & Lieb Cellars. Ballie Beach is an easy 2 miles from the cottage. The cottage sits on a quiet side street along the Mattituck Inlet with direct creek access. Most residents and renters along this very creek have been returning for up to 30 years, it must be a special place.
Wake up in the morning to the quiet movement of the creek, swans floating by. Take the paddle boards out to enjoy the serenity and catch a glimpse of the nesting ospreys on the Mattituck Inlet. Afterwards head over to Love Lane for some lemon ricotta pancakes at Love Lane Kitchen, pick up some cheese and chocolate from the local Village Cheese and Sweet Shoppes for a sunset picnic at Ballie Beach later. Visit some Vineyards in the afternoon, I'll tell you our favorites. Grill up some wood-planked trout for dinner, get the fire pit going by the creek, make s'mores and have some wine from your favorite vineyard. This is a day in the life at the cottage.
The backyard facing the creek is a perfect place for relaxing or playing bocce ball. Come nightfall, stargaze and make s’mores by the fire pit. There is a folding table with table linens and chairs available if you want to have a picnic dinner under the stars. Bring your kayak or canoe (or use our row boat complimentary), you can access the Mattituck Inlet from the backyard! There are also 2 stand up paddleboards available for use. If you have never tried it, now is your chance! It is actually very easy, anybody can do it. Afterwards, rinse off in the outdoor cedar shower.
The cottage has 3 bedrooms. Two bedrooms have double beds. One bedroom has a queen bed. Linens are included (sheets/blankets/bath towels and beach towels). Double air mattress and pack n play crib are both available. There is a cozy sunroom with couches and reading chairs that comfortably seats 6, a TV with DVD player, two large floor cushions, a coffee table perfect for board games, and a selection of DVDs, books, and games. The house is equipped with wi-fi and Google Chromecast. The kitchen is stocked with utensils, dishes, pots and pans. There is a mango-wood farmhouse dining table for six to eight people (extra chairs are available). There is an upstairs bathroom with walk-in shower and heat fan (for cool mornings), a half bath powder room downstairs, and an outdoor cedar shower.
The North Fork has the best of everything, and this cottage is the perfect charming getaway from the busy grind. It will take you back in time to when living was simple. Quiet and slow pace, relaxed and casual living, near to beaches, countless vineyards and farmstands, and great restaurants. For a slightly quicker pace, Greenport is a short 20 minute drive away. Mattituck is ideally located in the center of everything on the North Fork. We also are more than happy to provide vineyard/winery, activities, and restaurant recommendations.
The weekly rentals begin Saturday at 3pm with check-out the following Saturday at 10am. We are willing to accommodate flexible arrangements if available.

We live in NYC primarily, but we love coming out to the North Fork to get away for a relaxing vacation. We first came to to North Fork on a long weekend to do some wine tasting. We loved the laid-back nature of the area and the breath-taking scenery of undeveloped land. We purchased the cottage from a lovely family who had used it as a summer home for 30 years. It is a special place, and we look forward to sharing it with others.
The Owner purchased this cottage in 2011
To us, the North Fork has the best of everything. Quiet and slow pace, beaches, vineyards, and great restaurants. Love Lane is heaven for foodies like us, with the local cheese and chocolate shops, the new Love Lane gourmet market, and of course Love Lane Kitchen. If you are lucky, you will get to see a stunning pink sunset over the northwest side of the Sound. The sky turns amazing shades of bright pink, purple, and blue. It is simple living at its best out here.
While staying at the property, we like to go paddleboarding on the Inlet, play bocce ball on the beach, visit favorite and new Vineyards, we will always try a new recipe to cook, and we often stop by Love Lane Kitchen for the ricotta lemon pancakes, or portobello sandwich, and we always, always stop by the Sweet Shoppe!
We loved staying at the cottage.
its beautifully renovated and decorated and conveniently located near all the North Fork has to offer.
We especially loved the fire pit.
Thanks for such a great stay.
This review is a bit late, but my parents, sister and nephews stayed at this house for the weekend of my wedding this past October at Macari Vineyards. My (now wife) and I ended up spending Thursday night here as well before moving to the Jedadiah Hawkins inn for the weekend.
The house is absolutely perfect. Even better than the photos. It has that rustic feel you want when staying on the North Fork, yet will all modern amenities. The house was spotless, beds were comfortable, beautiful water view of the lake and close to everything. The kitchen (which my wife wants duplicated in our home) opens up to the family room which is great. Best of all the homeowner Sing is a pleasure to work with! She was super nice! My parents loved staying there and plan to rent again this fall for some relaxation!
We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. You were such a wonderful host--everything was set up perfectly for us, and our every need anticipated! When we had a question, you responded by phone promptly. The bikes were great--we added two bikes from Dan's Bike Rental, so we could ride around town easily. We went to the beach, the bay, Shinn Estates Vineyard, and Love Lane. Our favorite place was Love Lane Cafe, and yes, we had the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes--yummy! We also went to the A Mano, but did not like it as well. We enjoyed looking at the "before-after" pictures and agreed that you guys did an awesome job renovating the place.
All in all, it was a perfect getaway from the city, and we appreciated all you did to help us feel comfortable.
We hope to return sometime soon!
We stayed for a bachelorette weekend and had a blast. Great location close to many of Long Islands fine wineries.
This house is comfortable, conveniently located, and has a number of great amenities (rowboat, bikes, etc.) - sadly we didn't get to use everything because of the weather! The place is tastefully decorated and clean. We loved looking out onto the Mattituck inlet from the sitting room - a perfect way to relax for a week! The owner was extremely responsive. Can't wait to go back!
Five of my friends and I stayed in this beautiful, charming home for a quiet girls' weekend in October. The home was perfectly suited for relaxing and enjoying each others' company. We bought pastries for breakfast at nearby Love Lane, got some takeaway sandwiches for lunch, then packed up our rental bikes (Dan's Greenport Bike Rentals!) for an afternoon of wine tasting on Oregon Road. The cottage was everything we were hoping it would be-- beautiful, clean, comfortable, cozy, and well-situated. The homeowners were a pleasure to work with, too!
