Mtunizini's diverse ecological systems are home to a bountiful variety of flora and fauna. There are around 300 species of birds, 250 species of trees, numerous mammals, a great variety of fish and many other undocumented wonders of Africa's bounty. World-renowned Game Reserves:
Mtunzini is an hour and a quarter from the world heritage site of Lack St Lucia Wetland Park and world renowned Hluluwe-Umfolozi big-five game reserve which has the largest concentration of white rhino found anywhere in the world.
The Greater St Lucia Wetland Park was the first in South Africa to be declared a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco). St Lucia's wide variety of ecosystems and natural habitats provides for an astounding diversity of species in the area. With its lakes, lagoons, freshwater swamps and grasslands, St Lucia supports the country’s largest population of hippos and crocodiles to Giant Leather back turtles, black rhino, leopards, and a vast array of bird and marine life.

Mtunzini has a picturesque 9-hole country course characterised by dramatic views of the Indian Ocean and Umlalazi lagoon.
Within 45 minutes of Mtunzini are a large number of top golf courses including Princess Grant (one of the finest courses in South Africa and is included in some of African Sky's South Africa Golf Tours), Eshowe golf course,
Richards Bay Country Club and Empangeni Golf Club.
