Guntersville Lake Cabin Rental Photos and Description
Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)
Trail's Edge is not just a place to get away from it all--it is located in an area steeped in history, natural beauty, recreational opportunities and within a short drive of some serious shopping and sight seeing.
The newly constructed facility takes its name from a trail that passes through its grounds. In 1838 John Benge led a group of over 1,000 Cherokees from Fort Payne in nearby DeKalb County over Sand Mountain and down to the Meltonsville community. They were on their way to Indian Territory in Oklahoma during what has been termed the 'Trail of Tears.' Portions of the original road bed can be seen to the left of the driveway entrance.
Inside you will find three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a spacious living room with vaulted ceiling. Our modern kitchen features all the amenities, but you may want to do some of your cooking outside in our enclosed facility with both charcoal and gas grills. Next to the outdoor kitchen is a large hot tub to unwind after a busy day of fishing, hiking, or shopping.
Located within a ten minute drive is Lake Guntersville State Park, which offers a splendid, almost aerial view of the area. People from all over the country come here in February to see Bald Eagles, but some of the magnificent birds are permanent residents. If golf is your passion, you will want to tee off at the park's challenging 18 hole course.
Also located nearby are Buck's Pocket State Park and High Falls Park (it features a spectacular 40 foot waterfall). A twenty minute drive will take you to historic Guntersville, founded in 1785. It offers several antique and speciality shops and some gourmet restaurants. The ante-bellum Gilbreath house at 353 Blount Avenue, is home to the Guntersville Historical Society, and is open on Saturday mornings. The Guntersville Museum, on Rayburn Avenue, is open free of charge Tuesdays through Sundays. A few miles south on 431 is Boaz, with plenty of outlet stores for the discriminating shopper. Or, if your interest is 'space exploration', Huntsville is about an hour's drive away. Its Space and Rocket Center is a world class attraction.
But you may just want to sit on the front deck while taking in the natural splendor of this quiet little corner of northeast Alabama.
