The galley style kitchen incorporates a breakfast bar to chat with friends while preparing meals, set out food or appetizers, and bring the beautiful lake view into the kitchen. It is fully stocked and includes a full size dishwasher, dual coffee makers, range, microwave, and refrigerator. Since the home is located on a remote part of Newman Lake, water is pumped from the lake and filtered. We recently installed a three stage cartridge system to filter particles to less then 5 microns and also a UV lamp to kill viruses making it suitable for drinking. The water is crystal clear. Since we previously carried water in for drinking and cooking, there are also two water coolers in the kitchen, one in the beach house, and one in each bathroom. This is city water from Spokane and even though we have tested the filtered lake water we still use it for babies and our elderly guests just because it makes sense to do so and its already there.
Three king bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and an upstairs 'romper' room make up our well designed 1650 sq. ft. home. Each bedroom has views of the lake while sitting in bed reading or having coffee. The downstairs king bedroom has an adjacent full bathroom for grandparents or those not comfortable with stairs and has a full size washer and dryer. Two upstairs king bedrooms look out over the lake, have balcony access with two wrote iron style chairs and table each, and share the newly renovated upstairs bathroom. This bathroom features a frame less glass shower, toilet, and granite vanity with double sinks. The romper room looks out over the back of the house and has a bunk bed with two single mattresses, a queen bed, two twin size convertible futons, TV, DVD player, and dining table. All bedrooms and the romper room have a ceiling fan and individually controlled baseboard heaters for climate control.
Saving the best for last, the lot and location are fabulous. Located on the most remote part of Newman Lake, the largest lake in Spokane County, you feel like you are getting away from it all without doing so. Super Walmart and Cabellas in Post Falls, ID, Albertsons, Safeway, in Liberty Lake, WA, and the YMCA, Spokane Valley Mall and theaters in Spokane Valley are less than a half hour drive. All of the amenities of Spokane and Coeur d’Alene can be reached in 45 minutes. The Newman Lake resort in season and the Exxon mini mart is a fifteen minute drive for those forgotten necessities. Peninsula road is a very quiet street with many families taking leisurely strolls or bike rides in the evenings. Wild turkey and deer meander around frequently. The end of the street intersects the 421 acre McKenzie conservation area with multiple trail heads for hiking in the woods. The area, which makes up the bulk portion of the north side of the lake has 3000’ of lake frontage, many diverse habitats and animals, and beautiful views of Mount Spokane.
A key feature of this property is the gradual grade from road to beach making it friendly to grandparents and children. While guests will still have to maneuver some stairs, it is near impossible to find a lake property that balances incredible views with accessible beach access. The beach is arguably one of the best on Newman Lake. The flat 100’ by 40’ beach area is large enough to accommodate all your friends and family and is sunny all day. There is also a beach house with a full size refrigerator, microwave, prep area, and electrical outlets. Lounge chairs, Adirondack chairs, umbrellas, beach toys, paddle boat, charcoal grill, and a small dining table are all included. A new EZ dock greats you for swimming, fishing, or securing your boat or jet skis. A very gradual waterfront is friendly for small kids and invites bathers to pull their chairs up and dip your feet in.
Thank you for taking the time to view our property. Depending on the weather, we normally put out the furniture and dock mid April when the lake ice melts. Being one of the shallowest lakes in Eastern Washington, it does 'heat' up quickly but it is dependent on the unpredictable spring temperatures. But if you are comparing one of the bigger lakes like
Coeur d'alene or Pend Oreille or deap lakes like Hauser, Newman is by far the best. July through mid September, in 2012 it heated up to 84 degrees. Those other lakes would be lucky to be in the low 70's. You also don't have do deal with massive waves that those lakes have, the crowding, and the large variation in lake levels.
Be advised that some features such as deck furniture, beach house access, and dock are limited by the season. The use of the wood stove and beach fire pit may be restricted by fire bans dictated by the county fire department (typically mid July - September). We have the ability of installing child gates at the top of stairs and around the wood stove. There is also a full size crib, pack and play, high chair, and chair convertible high chair. Newman lake has a public boat launch. Our adjacent lot has lake view RV parking without sewer hookups.
