America's Most Beautiful Lakeshore

I had never been to MIchigan, and I was extremely happy with my first experience in the Empire/Glen Arbor area. The house was absolutely perfect and surpassed my hopes for what it would be. It was beautifully decorated and the owners were amazing. They were helpful and accommodating from the beginning. The house was a perfect retreat for my husband, myself, and my two little boys. It really was a little piece of paradise. Having South Bar Lake in the back yard was amazing. The lake was clear (all around the dock), shallow, warm, and very private. There is not a sand access to the water at this time, its all grass, but for my little ones I ended up preferring this to keep them clean and not as much work to to have them access the house. The view from the deck was beautiful! Access to the two kayaks and paddle boat was convenient and useful. The boys and their dad used these multiple times per day! The vacation retreat was serene and peaceful, but we also were looking for adventure, and we found just that. Sitting outside in the lawn chairs and watching the lake, hearing the birds, and feeling the breeze was a needed break from a hectic life. We utilized and loved the close access to the hiking trails, biking trails, public beach that connects to Lake Michigan, gorgeous sunsets, bomb fire and smores in the back yard, Dune Climb, "Scenic Drive," boat rental in Glen Arbor at the Marina at the Narrows, and tubing on the Platte River. It was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. The neighbors were extremely laid back and were more than helpful with us on our trip. We did feel a need to be respectful and keep it down at the night hours. If you are looking for that perfect family vacation, then this is it. The options are endless in the house, around the house, and in the area. We would love to return!
