Villa Kristini is a beautiful villa set in the peaceful Cretan countryside amidst grazing & olive trees, offering a quiet family holiday location between the villages of Palailoni & Kefalas, with magnificent views of the White Mountains and sea glimpses. The villa was built in 2004 to a high standard with 2 double bedrooms, both with ceiling fans and 2 bathrooms (1 en suite), an open plan lounge (2 ceiling fans) and a kitchen area with French doors leading onto a patio, ideal for dining 'al-fresco' and of course the ever tempting private pool complete with sun loungers & outside shower! There's a basic BBQ too. Stairs lead to a sun drenched roof terrace. The gardens are well maintained and stocked with a variety of shrubs and fruit tress, affording extra privacy. A washing machine is included you to wash your laundry as you go and we supply clean towels & bedding. A weekly villa clean & towel/bedding change are included in the charges.

The villa is less than a 5 minute walk from the nearest taverna, the very welcoming 'Liberta' offering free use of its pool. Kefalas is a lovely traditional Cretan village 10 minutes walk away offering supermarkets, tavernas & an award winning restaurant. A 5 minute drive takes you to the beautiful hidden cove - and taverna - of Ombrosgiolis (the Octopus) with its stunning turquoise sea. 10 minute drive will take you to the beautiful resort of Almyrida and 15 minutes to Kalives and Georgioupoli; all of these resorts have long sandy beaches, shops and tavernas. 30 minute drive away is historic Chania, Crete's old capital, a beautiful city with it's Venetian Old Town and Harbour, shopping and swimming pool world (Limnoupolis). The Samaria Gorge and Ancient Aptera are all within easy drives. Knossos, the old Minoan Capital is about 90 mins away. You will find lots of little attractions dotted around, such as an Ostrich Farm in Vamos and the curious Koumos Taverna in Kalives.

Additional information about rental rates

  • All clients will receive clean towels and bedding at the start of their holiday. Bookings in excess of 1 week include a weekly villa clean,towels & bedding change at no extra cost. Parties in excess of 2 persons will be subject to an additional charge of £10.00 per week for additional linen, towels and bedding.
  • A £200 deposit is requested upon booking, with the balance to be paid 4 weeks prior to your villa arrival date.
    A refundable Damage Retainer of £200 is also charged at the time the balance is paid.

Notes: For wheelchair access, the villa is totally flat, however please note that there is one low step from the car parking space to the side entrnce, and another very low step to access through the front door. Access from the car parking area to the bedrooms is level. UK Changeover day is usually Tuesday at Chania, however this may be flexible, subject to the previous/next visitors and the airport of departure/arrival. The swimming pool is 8 metres by 4 metres, about 1 metre deep at the shallow end and 2 metres at the deeper end. A washing machine is included if you prefer to wash your own laundry, although we supply clean towels & bedding at changeover and weekly for bookings in excess of 7 nights, in addition to a weekly clean.

Flight Information: Nearest Airport is Chania, 45 min away: Charter flights operate on Tuesdays from the UK during the holiday season. Scheduled flights operate every day via Olympic & Aegean, it is worth checking direct flights & indirect flights via Athens or Thessaloniki. Alternative airport is Heraklion, just under 2 hours away: Charter flights operate most days from the UK during the holiday season. Scheduled direct flights operate every day, airlines include Easyjet, Jet2 (from Leeds), Olympic & Aegean; it is worth checking direct flights & indirect flights via Athens or Thessaloniki. Another option that some people like to go for is to fly to Athens and get the overnight ferry with ANEK from Piraeus (8pm) to Souda Bay (6am). Souda is only a 20 minute drive away. Expect flights to cost around £200 each return. You often get very good deals if you book early (New Year) or want to risk leaving it to the last minute (sometimes under £100 each return).

Car Hire: We always book with Manos at ANE Cars who will offer you competitive rates and possibly a discount if you mention our name.(For further information or to check the website, please, do not hesitate to contact the owner of the property). City Car will also offer a good discount if you mention our name to the owner George. Holiday Autos also have a good reputation. Be careful when comparing car hire quotes over the web that insurance is being included in the price! Sometimes this gets added later (i.e. when you hand over your cash).

The villa lived up to the pictures and the description, the view from the pool across the white mountains was spectacular, as was the the sunset from the roof terrace.
Small seaside towns north of the villa were in easy reach with a car and both the taverna at the end of the lane and the Octopus bar about a mile away offered good food at reasonable prices.
Definately consider dropping in next year.

A lovely, modern villa with stunning views - perhaps slightly obscured by the afternoon sun, which can be intense, but isn't that what you go on holiday for ? Loved the area - all small villages & winding mountain roads. Kalives, Almirida & Georgiopolis, the most local resorts, have their commercial side - basting bodies on cramped beaches - but are not so built up that you can't find a little quiet corner for yourself. Owners guide to the area - available when you get there - spot on ! Everything so good that struggling to make a negative comment - I think you are supposed to make some in any review. Maybe not negative but a tip, if you hire a car get the smallest one possible - parking not great unless you're happy doing a 10 point turn (maybe that's a testamant to my driving skill) & the roads through Kefelas can be a little daunting.
Loved everything about the place & would not hesitate to go back.

A superb get-away-from-it-all place

This was our second stay at this lovely villa - it's so peaceful & relaxing. Definitely a wonderful place to recharge the batteries & take it easy but also a good base to explore the island if that takes your fancy. We loved the location & facilities. Some tavernas/restaurants are within a short walk (bring a torch!) and plenty of others are within a short drive - this is not a place to be without a car! The accommodation is excellent - classic Greek style - but with modern amenities. We loved sitting on the roof terrace watching the sun go down over the bay and then gazing at the stars - so many to see with so little light pollution. All in all a superb stay & we'll certainly be back for more...
