This beautiful stone fronted property enjoys an envious position overlooking Ballinskelligs Bay. 5 minutes walking distance down a quiet lane leads to Reenroe Beach which boasts one mile of unspoilt sandy beach. This property has everything you could wish for in a relaxing base for your holiday. It has peace and tranquillity, fully enclosed large garden, panoramic views of Waterville Beach to the East, Reenroe Beach directly in front and Scarriff Island, Hogs Head and Horse Island westwards. Reenroe Beach offers walking, running, swimming, surfing, horse riding, fishing. Sea angling boat trips can be arranged locally.

Walking, Hill Walking, Cycling: There are many local walks and cycle routes . Bikes can be rented in the nearby town of Cahersiveen. Walks up Bolus Head ( to Bolus Tower), Bray Tower in Valentia, Geokaun Mountain (Valentia) offer breathtaking views over South Kerry and the Sceilig Rocks. Visit Cill Rialaig Famine Village and Artists Retreat and also the Cill Rialaig Art Gallery and Cafe in Dungeagan Village. Information on all these is available in the house and at local tourist offices in Cahersiveen and Waterville.

Eating Out & Area Attractions: Trip to the Skellig Rock is a must and most holiday makers say it is the highlight of their holiday. Boats leave Portmagee and Ballinskelligs daily weather permitting. Valentia Island offers a Slate Quarry, Grotto, Light House, Geokaun Mountain & Fogher Cliffs Viewing Point, Candle making. Watersports for children in Knightstown during summer months include water trampoline, kayaking, fishing, orienteering. There are many archaeological sites in the area including Staigue Fort, Caherdaniel, Leacanabuile, Cahergeal forts. An information book is provided by the owner for all local attractions and restaurants. Local seafood is a speciality in most local restaurants.

Wonderful and Perfect Holidays in Kerry

We stayed in this lovely cottage during the first 2 weeks in July 2009 with 2 adults and 2 teenage children, whilst everybody enjoyed the quiteness and also long evenings at the fireplace with enough peat for free. We have especially enjoyed the irish hospitality and the warm welcome of the Owners. Reenroe Beach at short distance was always reachable for a nice and enjoyable walk. Cahersiveen with it's shops, restaurants and pubs may be easily reached by car. Mont Bretia Cottage was an ideal place to stay for all travels along County Kerry, Ring of Kerry and it's different nice sights. Provided you have good, most suitable sunny weather and aren't seasick, don't miss a boat-trip to the Skellig Islands with it's numerous puffins and other sea-birds, starting from Portmagee (which we recommend, please apply for 2 - 3 days in advance directly at harbour) and finally enjoy a dinner in The Bridge Bar nearby the harbour.

Thank you for these nice 2 weeks. We should return as soon as possible.

Wir, eine 4-köpfige Familie mit 2 Kindern im Teenager-Alter haben in diesem wundervollen Cottage die 2 ersten Wochen im Juli 2009 verbracht. Besonders haben wir die Ruhe sowie die langen Abende am Kaminfeuer genossen. Torf als Brennstoff gab es umsonst. Die Besitzer haben uns sehr angenehm mit warmer, irischer Gastfreundlichkeit empfangen. Reenroe Beach, nur eine kurze Distanz vom Haus entfernt lud zu regelmässigen und ausgedehnten Spaziergängen ein. Cahersiveen mit seinen Läden, Restaurants und Pubs lässt sich leicht mit dem Wagen erreichen. Mont Bretia Cottage war ein idealer Startpunkt für Tagesfahrten rund um das County Kerry, den Ring of Kerry und die verschiedenen schönen Sehenswürdigkeiten. Vorausgesetzt es ist gutes, möglichst sonniges Wetter und man wird nicht seekrank, sollte eine Bootsfahrt zu den Skellig Inseln mit seinen niedlichen Papageientauchern und anderen Seevögeln auf jeden Fall auf dem Plan stehen. Am Besten man startet von Portmagee aus (was wir empfehlen, bitte rechtzeitig 2 - 3 Tage vorher am Hafen anmelden) und beendet den Tag mit einem Abendessen in The Bridge Bar direkt am Hafen.

Danke für diese 2 wunderschönen Wochen. Wir werden sobals als möglich wiederkommen.

Perfect

Our party was three adults a two year old and baby. The property was perfect. Enclosed garden very safe for two year old, Reenroe beach a short stroll down a quiet lane and possible with a pushchair. Reenroe beach a little wild for swimming for us but great for sandcastles and walking Ballinskelligs beach which is a short drive (5/10 mins) away good for a dip. House itself was really nice - not sure photos fully do it justice! Very comfortable, very clean and everything you might need provided. Ring of Kerry on your doorstep as is the Skellig Ring both of which are beautiful. Pretty isolated so woudl need a car. We did manage to walk back from local pub one of the evenings which took about 40 mins (bring a torch) but there are local taxis available.

Since 19 years was it a dream of mine to make holidays in Ireland. This beautyfull Cottage in the amazing Ring of Kerry was the perfect place for that.vClose to the ozean, nice, clean, quiet and arranged with lovley details. The rooms and the kitchen are comfortable and etablishes with everything you want and need. Started with a dishwasher and stoped with hair dryer. A chimney for rainy and cold days was there to. The owner is a nice and friendly Person. Eyerything was perfect and we would like to come back soon. Maybe next year again. Thank you one more time.

A beautiful house in a stunnig scenery. Everything was very modern, clean and well maintained. With its three bedrooms it is very spacious and there is a nice individual touch to every room. We especially loved the living room with the open fireplace. Our baby practiced crawling in there while we liked to relax taking in the stunning view. The closeby beaches are wonderful and Mont Bretia Cottage is an ideal starting point to the many sights on the Ring of Kerry. Don't miss the stone forts in Cahirsiveen, pituresque Kenmare and - most importantly -the chocolate factory.
To summ it up: We have wonderful memories of this house and the warm hospitality of its owners. And we will be back.

Great stay in Kerry

My wife and I stayed in the cottage in the last week of November.

We had a lovely stay, the cottage has all the comforts of home including a fire place with all the peat you can burn. The cottage was a welcome retreat from the normally busy lives.

The best thing was the location, only a gentle stroll to Reenroe beach. A long sandy beach and during our week there we only saw a handful of runners and walkers.

The cottage is only a short drive to Cahersiveen which has cafes, shops, supermarkets and resturants. Only 5 mins drive from Cahersiveen is Dalys Salmon smokery who sell directly to the public.

We had a fantastic week in the cottage and would definitely return again.
