The villa Estrella del Mar, Starfish, recently built is situated at the foot of the mountain la Pelada, just outside the village of El Medano, at a stone's throw from an enclosed, idyllic beach.
The villa is a spacious and luxurious house, situated at its own road. The outside entrance is secured with a gate and passing through the gate you approach the front door via the garden and the terrace. The house boasts three terraces, one directly situated near the entrance and enjoying the morning sun. The terrace is equipped with teak wood tables providing seating facilities for up to 10 people.
At the back of the villa the second terrace running parallel to the house, is entirely enclosed with plenty of sunshine in the afternoon and evening. It provides enough room for sunbathing or dining with 10 to 12 guests. You reach the terraces through the big and luxurious kitchen ( 60 m2!!) and the hallway. With the outside stairs you have direct access to the pool and the garden.
The Island of Tenerife: Tenerife is the fertile jewel of the Canaries, dominated by the imposing volcano, the Pico del Teide, more than 3,700 metres high, which is an important tourist attraction. It is the largest island of the Canaries and offers, next to its famous beaches, remarkable features.
One example is the rugged natural park of las Canadas, an extensive area around the Pico del Teide, bringing to mind a lunar landscape.
The northern part of Tenerife is characterized by fertile, green valleys, like the Orotavo valley with its banana plantations.
The most important beach resort on the north eastern coast, is the main capital of Puerto de la Cruz. Most tourists however, prefer to stay in the south western part of the island, where the villa Estrella del Mar is situated. The south is popular because of the subtropical climate. Tenerife is the ideal destination for a break to forget the northern European winter. With an average flight time of approximately 4 hours you find yourself in a pleasant subtropical climate all year round. Tenerife is a versatile holiday destination. If you love sunbathing the southern part of Tenerife, where our house is located, is the best destination. But you can also visit one of the many nature and animal parks, picturesque villages with folklore activities, museums in Santa Cruz of discover other places of interest.
Tenerife offers numerous possibilities for hiking. Not only in the volcanic park of the Teide, but also the beaches and barranco (canyon) offer numerous well documented hiking trails. Vilaflor, at an altitude of 1500 metres, has an abundance of hiking opportunities.
At the culinary level you will appreciate Tenerife. The number of restaurants in the tourist centres is of course overwhelming.
El Medano is not the typical tourist trap with neon lights, pubs and fish & chips shops. It's a world famous spot for wind and kite surfers, thanks to the ever blowing wind, great waves and world cup surf contests. Most of the tourists staying in El Medano are English, German and of the sport loving kind.
The village is situated on the south west coast of Tenerife, entirely bordering the sea with a wooden ramp for strolling along the beach front. The beach of El Medano is about 3 kilometres long stretching from the centre to the rusty-red mountain of Montana Roja.
El Medano is primarily a pedestrian village with a large square in the centre where the locals celebrate and organize activities. Many Canarios (inhabitants of the Canary Islands) visit El Medano over the weekends. Around the square some restaurants, a hotel and a children's playground are located. The square ends at the central beach where many of the locals meet. In the morning the elderly villagers come for a swim.

Golf: As mentioned before, Tenerife is the place to go for all watersport lovers. But whereas El Medano is the place-to-be for surfing, Golf del Sur is the meeting place for playing golf. Each year both places show up in current sport programmes because of the world cup events. Parasailing and parapente are some of the other branches of sport or leisure activities to be practiced on Tenerife. On the cultural side you can visit concerts and museums.
