We are a family of four living in NYC and spend most weekends and summers at this home we built in 2000. Athough relatively new, it has the feeling of an older home because of the details we put into the design. We bike, horseback ride, go to the beach, sail and take advantage of the historical and beautiful natural resources in the area. My husband is in the financial industry and I am an interior designer. I decorate homes in the area, and write editorials for local magazine on decorating and entertaining.
we love this area of the Hamptons particularly for it's laid back feeling and close proximity to the harbor and bay beaches. It feels nautical and country-like and yet it's close enough to the trendy areas of the Hamptons for dining and cultural activities. It's close to Montauk and Amagansett and we love the beaches there. We love Louse Point for crabbing and fishing as well. We rent canoes at Springs Country store in summer as well. We bike to Jackson Pollocks museum and the pond for picnics and enjoy the beauty of the area.
Since I have a trained eye as a professional interior designer I have brought that approach to our home, yet it still feels quaint and unassuming. Although we have antiques and vintage pieces throughout, nothing feels too precious and it's also comfortable. The property is private and expansive and with lots of green grass and hydrangeas blooming all summer. It's a quiet street and perfect for bike riding.
