Our cozy cabin sits in total privacy on 9 acres overlooking the Thompson River. You are near everything yet far from it all. Your 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom cabin sits nestled in the middle of the Pisgah National Forest, yet is only 15 minutes away from the Cashiers/Highlands area. Previously owned and managed as a private fly fishing club and trout hatchery, “Sweetwater” is the best of all worlds. This is your own mountain retreat where you can wake up every morning to a fresh brewed cup of coffee while listening to the sounds of a waterfall 25 feet below your private deck. At an elevation of 3,000' feet the summers are always cool! You are conveniently located just a few miles from Lake Toxaway, just off of highway 64.
The cabin is recently renovated with a fully equipped kitchen, which overlooks the river. The master bedroom has a double and twin bed (can be easily pushed together to make a king). The second bedroom contains bunk beds. A single bathroom, on the main living level, has a standup shower and has also just been completely renovated.
Downstairs there are two additional bedrooms, each with a twin bed. There are two bathrooms on the lower level. One has a standup shower and the other a bathtub.
The family room has a gas burning fireplace and the screened in porch and deck have a picnic table, Adirondack chairs and a fire pit overlooking the river. There is even a lower covered pavilion with a firepit that sits at the junction of the river and creek!
Grill out steaks or that fresh caught trout while enjoying a cocktail. Enjoy a week with the guys with private access to your own section of the Thompson River. Want to test out casting in tight waters? Your cabin sits is at the junction of Gumbottom Creek and the Thompson River, so you can wade up Gumbottom and land a few native brookies. Smoke a cigar and drink a brandy sitting on an Adirondack chair in front of an open fire next to the river.
Get away for the week with family or friends. Your kids can be as noisy and active as kids should be. You are minutes away from the areas best horseback riding, biking, canoeing and waterfall viewing. The Whitewater Equestrian Center is just up the road and it is just a short trip to mountain biking at Dupont State Forrest. Or head over to Headwaters Outfitters for a canoe trip down the French Broad River. Want a real kid’s treat? Earthshine waits, with its famous zip line course through the trees. Afterwards, cool off by heading over to slide rock and take the 60 foot plunge into the icy river below! Try your luck “gem mining” in nearby Sapphire.
Taking your child up to North Carolina for summer camp? This is the perfect spot for your own week of “camp”…..Head over to the nearby towns of Brevard, Asheville, Cashiers and Highlands for lunch, dinner or shopping. An evening of music is available at the Lake Toxaway Community Center or head to Asheville and spend the day at the world famous Biltmore Estates and Winery. World class dining is just minutes away at the Brown Trout, Osteria, or the Greystone Inn at Lake Toxaway. Or maybe just spend the evening at your cabin playing games at your game table or just sit outside and be amazed at the “star show”. Millions of them are all up here waiting for you!

Why not spend some time in the mountains after that Clemson football game. We are just 1 hour away and the fall leaf change is always spectacular.
Into hiking? ….Only 2 miles away is the entrance to Gorges State Park, where you have easy access to rugged river gorges, sheer rock walls and plunging waterfalls. The park is free to the public, encompassing 7,500 acres and is the only state park west of Asheville. Hike to Rainbow, Turtleback and Drift falls for that perfect picnic lunch.
Six miles the other direction is Whitewater Falls. There is nothing better then Panthertown Valley, nicknamed appropriately “The Yosemite of the East”.
