Stephen works as a manager in the clothing industry & Janet is a teacher. Both love to escape the Irish rain and go to their home in the sun whenever possible.
Stephen & Janet Loughery purchased this apartment in 2008
Close to the beach, ground floor, south facing, all day sun, pool, next to a golf course. Bars and restaurants nearby.
Relaxed Spanish way of life.
This is an apartment I would love to pick up and move just a little closer to the town/ beach. Having said that if you hire a car as I did you will be fine.
The apartment was absolutely fantastic and had every thing you could ask for plus more besides. It was really comfortable with great air conditioning. The kitchen was spacious and again had every thing. The showers were really powerful and certainly woke me up in the morning.
Roda Golf resort is quite huge with 1200 Apartments with 2 more phases to be built at some point, however the whole resort was spotlessly clean. The security is also very good with 2 entry gates being manned with security guards who always very courteous and polite.
Now for the Golfers, just brilliant, the course is quite challenging (for me anyway)but quite amazing and actually run so I am led to believe by De Vere hotels. It cost 45 euros per round with buggy. There is also a very good restaurant at the Club House which the food, the service and the price was probably the best in the area and this includes the restaurants in town. If you are looking for fine dining In the area, then forget it. This was the only gripe I have with the whole experience. The food is really over priced and fairly basic. No fresh veg here. To be honest if the restaurants served the food at the prices they were actually getting here in the UK then they would not last 2 minutes. Actually there was one restaurant that was quite good and that was Angela's Italian at the bottom of the Plaza, Maybe it is just me and my expectations are just too high for a good restaurant because they were all very busy.
There are some very good supermarkets around with some fantastic fish available, good choices of Veg and meats and anything else you could think of, that is of course if you don't mind cooking.
The Beaches of which there are plenty are very good and the water is shallow so if you have children it will be as safe as you can get.
Would I go again - yes
Would I go to Roda Golf Resort - Yes but only if I hired a car
Would I stay in the same apartment - 100% Yes.
This is the 2nd year we have stayed in this apartment and it was even better than last year. We have already booked again for next year we love it so much! The apartment itself is lovely, very clean and spacious and has everything you would need for a few weeks stay. The owners are very helpful and provide an excellent service, as do Roda FM. The nearest pool is very close by and that is where we spent most of our days.
The clubhouse on the resort provides very good food and is a nice place to spend the evening, only a 20min walk or short bike ride away. Also highly recommended for food etc is Campbell's which is 5 mins from the main gate.
There is a good choice of eateries on the main strip. We enjoyed every meal we had. There is also plenty of choice at the closest supermarkets and everything was priced very reasonably.
We spent a few days at the beach where the water is lovely and there is a great atmoshere. All in all, we love this apartment & resort for a relaxing holiday. There are also lots of places to visit nearby if you want variety. Looking forward to going back! Thanks Stephen and Janet
From the moment dennis picked us up at the airport the holiday never disappointed....this is the season year in a row we have stayed at this apartment and we are looking in to booking it for 2014 already.....apartment has everything u need and its very clean and tidy.....pool is great for a small family with young kids.....we ate out a few nights in the local town and everywhere is great value and its lovely food as well....would recommend the water park and visiting markets to try and pick up a bargain or 2.....beach is wonderful but if your going in summer months arrive early to avoid the madness lol....all in all at great place to stay for the money and im sure you wont be let down..cant wait till next year!!!
The apartment is a very nice two bed, two bathroom apartment in a quiet part of the Roda Golf complex. The apartment is very well presented and had everything we needed. Stephen was very helpful in arranging our stay and answering any questions we had beforehand. We had a great time in the surrounding area of Los Alcazares and Mar Menor. A hire car is a must (would not advise using Goldcar - long story) as Roda Golf is 5 mins drive from nearest beaches and supermarkets. We hope to go back some time.
We have just returned from a very relaxing week in the sun at Roda. The apartment is well equipped - the living room has got a sofa(bed) and a comfortable chair, plus a dining table and four chairs. There is also a TV and DVD player and several DVDs, books and a Monopoly game. The kitchen has got everything you could possibly need to cook a light meal. The oven and washing machine are both very easy to use. The bathrooms (one with a bath and one with a shower) have got top to bottom sand coloured marble tiles and look to be straight out of a magazine. The beds are extremely comfortable and we managed to catch up on some sleep. The swimming pool is just around the block and sometimes a bit overcrowded. It takes a day or two to figure out how to avoid the 'rush hours'. Two further points: there was no internet connection and we had to sit in the communal grassed area if we wanted to catch the morning sun. The clean sandy beach which can be reached by car in less than 10 minutes, has got lifeguards, several cafes, an aquatic sports school and a long promenade. It is definitely more upmarket than the La Manga strip. You will not go hungry, you will find plenty of supermarkets and restaurants but don't expect to find any Michelin stars in this area. The bicycles were great fun and especially handy for getting around the resort.
We managed to book very convenient Ryanair flights (no getting up at the crack of dawn), a Goldcar hire car and a top quality apartment on an immaculately kept resort. Excellent value for money ! Book this apartment if you need to recharge your batteries, you won't regret it.
The apartment is spacious and situated just around the corner from the pool. Being just around the corner from the pool means that it is very peaceful. Sun loungers are provided to allow you to soak up the sun. The kitchen has everything that you need including a large fridge-freezer. There is ample parking outside the apartment if you choose not to use the garage, The use of the bikes was an added bonus. I would recommend a car to allow you to explore the region.
I would recommend this apartment.
