What can I say about Berkeley? It is home to one of the world's great universities and is known for the high concentration of fine eating establishments including Chez Panisse by Alice Waters, the Cheese Board Collective, as well as the first ever Peet's Coffee & Tea Shop. Sidewalk cafes, bakeries, coffee houses, wine shops, boutiques, artisan home decor, and flower stands all lend the area a European ambiance. Fourth street has fine shopping in a variety of stores.
Berkeley also features two major theater companies as well as numerous small theater groups, symphonic and chamber orchestras, Cal Performances, several movie houses, and museums.
Come and enjoy!!

East - West, Berkeley is Best
The east coast owner moved west 5 years ago, renovated her aunt’s house in Berkeley and has truly fallen in love with her home and all that Berkeley has to offer.
A retired Landscape Architect, I love to garden and am currently trying my hand at watercolor and pastel portraits.
I love to travel but always love coming home to Berkeley.
Jean Holmes purchased this studio in 2006
There is so much to do in this area!! I love the theater, hike frequently in many of the nearby parks, and take classes at the university whenever possible.
Location, location, location! The public transportation is convenient, and UC Berkeley is a 25 minute walk down the hill.
Thank you for a wonderful stay. Your place was perfect. The view, neighborhood and amenities were everything we hoped for. Cannot wait to get back to Berkeley for another visit!
Jean was an excellent host. I was tired from travelling and she told me where to go to get some lovely takeout food so that I could enjoy dinner quietly "at home". The next day she took me down to the local market and I tasted a persimmon (which were in season) for the first time. Delicious. I loved the studio - quite large , close to everything, lovely view of the Bay, VERY comfortable bed, and I especially loved the walk in shower with the very large shower head. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will stay again.
This studio is very nice, has everything you need. Great location, beautiful view! Very conveniently located. Jean was wonderful, she had a lot of good information. We would definitely stay here again! Thanks to Jean for everything!
Studio was very charming, Jean was very friendly and the area was great. The studio was clean and well maintained. Jean was very sweet to my toddler, and extremely helpful when it came to finding places nearby to visit or have a great meal. She was also prompt in her replies to our e-mails. The entire visit was smooth from start to finish. Definitely recommend.
A beautiful place for total relaxation. Premium quality linens and full kitchen provided. The garden area and quiet surroundings made it a perfect choice. We hope to stay again on our next visit.
This studio combines luxurious comfort in a unique, but yet accessible, part of Berkeley. It's located close to everything in Berkeley but it isn't difficult to travel further around the Bay if that's your wish. I basked in the quiet and found it an unexpected respite in the midst of the myriad reasons I came to the area. I anticipate using it again as a "home base" when I return on my many trips to the East Bay Area. Everything is as the welcoming owner, Joan, describes above and much, much more! Book it, you won't be disappointed. Enjoy!
My wife and I stayed in this delightful, roomy studio for several nights while visiting family. All the amenities were up to and/or beyond our expectations. The host, especially, was warm and welcoming, happy to provide insight and information on the area, but unobtrusive, and even stocked the kitchen with coffee, milk, juice, snacks, etc., prior to our arrival. We certainly plan to return!
