Yellowtop Mountain is a lovely gated community in the Golden Valley region of North Carolina. Our cabin sits at the very top of our mountain with views from all angles. Golden Valley is a a quiet area between Forest City and Ruthfordton. The climate is wonderful. Enjoy spectacular fall and spring weather and breezy summer days and crisp winter evenings.
Our cabin is beautifully decorated and can sleep up to 12 people. The master bedroom is on the main level and has a large bath with a spa tub. The second floor has a roomy bedroom that has a queen size bed and futon along with another full bath. If you need extra accomodations, the lower level has two more bedrooms a full band a den/playroom combinations.
Forest City is about a 15 minute drive and has several restaurants and bars and plenty of options for grocery shopping. The original downtown area is quaint and cannot be missed during the Christmas holidays. The Christmas lights are absolutely beautiful.
Also about 15 or 20 minutes away is Rutherfordton. Another lovely small town with shops and restaurants to visit. Don't miss Legal Grounds across from the courthouse. You can enjoy coffee or adult beverages and grab a snack too.
If you are up for a little longer drive be sure to visit Lake Lure and the surrounding area. The drive over is beautiful (about 40 minutes) and the area has lots to offer from lakefront dining to numerous craft shops.
Of course you can always take in Hendersonville or Asheville. Both areas have numerous attractions and of course Asheville has the famous Biltmore Estate. If you enjoy wine tasting there are consider a tour of the nearby NC wineries. We have also taken advantage of tubing the nearby Green River in the summertime and there are seveal golf courses within a 20 minute drive.
Whether you are looking for a quiet weekend for two or a place to gather for a mini family reunion, this cabin and the Golden Valley area will be a relaxing destination.
