Winner of a Meath Tourism award in 2008, Decoy Country Cottages are one of Meath’s self catering stars. Located in the beautiful, historic Boyne Valley, where the history of Ireland was written, these eight luxurious cottages, which range in size from 1 – 4 bedrooms, are a haven of peace and relaxation away from the stresses of todays hectic lifestyle.

There are country house comforts at every turn – feather duvets, crisp white linen and a welcome basket of goodies. We can even provide a breakfast or supper service of locally sourced and home made products.

Kitchens have dishwashers and belfast sinks and there are plasma TV’s, DVD palyers and stoves in the sitting room. These complement the geothermal underfloor heating perfectly making these cottages an enviromnental haven.

It is ideal for families with a playground, BBQ and picnic area, a boules alley, pool table, air hockey table and gym.

An ideal base for touring the many historical sites eg Tara, Newgrange, Dublin

Golf: There are many golf courses in the area. Chose from parkland or links, challengiing or a little easier.

The nearest is Royal Tara which is a 27 hole parkland course. Special discounts on green fees if booked through Decoy Country Cottages.

In 2011, Killeen Castle (15 minutes) will be hosting the Solheim Cup. There is great excitement about this up comiing event and Meath is delighted to be able to get a chance to showcase this wonderful county.

Decoy Country Cottages is idealy located for touring the very many historic sites in Meath and also the wider area with Dublin only 30 miles away. We are very conveniently located between the N2 and N3. We are only 2 miles from Tara, 4 miles from Navan, 7 miles from Newgrange and Slane, 15 miles from Trim and 20 miles from Kells. Newgrange pre-dates both the pyramids and stonehenge and has been declared a UNESCO world heritage site and is definitely not to be missed. Tara was once the seat of the high kings of Ireland and is very important historically as well as having a fantastic coffee shop to visit.

Decoy country cottages is surrounded by beautiful parkland golf courses with something to suit all levels of golfer. If golf is not your thing why not try a spot of fishing on the famous Boyne, or try your luck at one of the rqace courses in the area. Fairy house (8 miles) is home to the Irish Grand National and Laytown hosts the only beach races in Europe.
