About Pam and John Flynn

We used to live in Atlantic Beach on Bogue Sound. While we loved it for many years, we yearned for more acres and privacy. John and his friend Ron discovered this beautiful property and we all knew we were destined to build here! We did, and our children were in high school/middle school at the time. We love the privacy and being so far away from reality, but in fact, wthin 6 miles of a beautiful town, Beaufort! As well as 7 miles from the fishing village of Harker's Island! We couldn't have animals other than cats or dogs in Atlantic Beach, but out here we have a mini horse, and 2 goats that love to be petted and fed carrots and apples! Our 4 chickens love attention! Our 2 dogs, an old, gentle golden retriever, and a frisky pound puppy, can either stay at the house or we will relocate them. They love going swimming with you!!! Great for kids that love animals!!! We will be in charge of their care, so no worries there! :)

Pam and John Flynn purchased this house in 1998

Why Pam and John Flynn chose Beaufort

Peaceful, serene, secluded location, panoramic view of North River, which connects to the Atlantic Ocean, 'God's Country', open floorplan with tropical colors, plenty of room for large family gatherings

What makes this house unique

Escaping reality, enjoying nature at its best!! Private sandy beach...Water view from most rooms...being near so many awesome restaurants, coastal points of interest, Cape Lookout, Beaufort, Harker's Island, the Ocracoke ferry, the NC Aquarium, the Atlantic Ocean, etc etc etc!

A little piece of paradise!

  • 5 of 5
My family usually gets together every year on Cape Hatteras, but this year we decided to try something a little different and stay a little more inland. This house popped up during a search and looked very interesting to us. We had never rented using VRBO before so we weren't exactly sure how things would go, but decided to give it a chance. I contacted the owners about the arrangements and after a couple of conversations with Pam I knew that there was nothing to be concerned about. She was extremely friendly and willing to go above and beyond to accommodate us and provide anything she could to make our stay more enjoyable. The house was very clean, had all the necessities you would ever need and came with some "extras" that you wouldn't normally expect. We really felt at home staying here! There was plenty of entertainment at the house with the animals, kayaking, clamming, etc., but if you wanted to venture out you could be in Beaufort or Morehead City in just a few minutes. Pam and John were warm and welcoming and it was a pleasure to meet them. Even though the weather wasn't the greatest while we were there it was still a successful vacation for everyone thanks to their hospitality. You can't go wrong with this place!!

WHAT A GREAT VACATION!!

  • 5 of 5
The staff, myself, and the individuals we serve, can't thank you enough for your hospitality and the chocolate cake. The goal for this vacation was to provide our individuals, who are intellectually disabled, with an enjoyable (and peaceful) vacation. We achieved that goal and much more! It was the first time they had an opportunity to participate in crabbing and clamming - activities that were enjoyed by the individuals and staff alike! In the evening, the shrimp boats with multi-colored lights paraded around the river in front of the house and provided awesome entertainment for all of us. They looked like floating Christmas trees. Each of the guys made their own vacation photo book and particularly liked their picture with "John and Pam."

Owner's Response: Dear Julia,
Your kind words are touching and heartfelt, and so appreciated!! We have such a special place in our hearts for those with mental, intellectual and physical disabilities, so we are honored you chose our home for your getaway. It was such a pleasure to meet you, your clients and staff. It was heartwarming to see your clients smile, explore and relax! We are so glad they enjoyed the water activities. And we agree, when the shrimp boats are puttering out in front of the house, it seems like a boat parade!!!
Your love and concern for your clients was so evident. They are indeed blessed beyond measure to spend their days with you and your awesome staff!!
We hope you will visit us again! And we encourage others that are associated with those with special needs will consider visiting our home as well.
With sincere appreciation,
Pam and John

Great place! Lots to do at the house and nearby!

  • 5 of 5
We had a great time. Pam and John are extremely nice and easy to get along with. We liked this place because it is quiet yet close enough to anything that you could want. They have lots to do at the house to keep you busy the whole time of your vacation. If you feel the need to get out you can be to Beaufort in less than 10 minutes. We would definitely go back if we get the chance. The house was very clean and exactly what was describe in the ad. The beach on the property on the North River was good for us with little kids. Very little surf for them to deal with. Atlantic Beach is 15 minuets away if you want to play in ocean surf.

Perfect Getaway for Our 1 Year Anniversary!

  • 5 of 5
We could not have been happier with our stay. Pam and John provided some of the best hospitality we have experienced. When we arrived, there was a happy anniversary card, a beautiful plant, balloons, and a cake waiting for us - where else would you get something like that?! The home itself is great and has absolutely everything you could ever want. The mini-farm out front is great and quite entertaining - we loved visiting with the animals. Pam even left us a bag of carrots on the porch one night to feed the animals with. On the flip side, you can completely ignore the farm aspect if you so choose. The house is huge, has incredible views, and everything you need for a great getaway. It was way too much space for just the two of us, but Pam was still more than happy to let us stay. The private beach is great, and we really enjoyed playing pool and foosball at night. There are more fire pits, grills and toys around the place than we could count. Beaufort is a very cool town to visit with a lot to see - it was only a short 10 min drive away, but we honestly enjoyed our time at the house the most. We would absolutely recommend it to anyone and can't say enough good about Pam and John - thank you again!

Surpassed Expectations!

  • 5 of 5
Wow! this home is even better than the photos and a fantastic location. I traveled with a group of Girl Scouts and the property was ideal with spacious bedrooms, waterfront with it's own private beach area and farm animals. I have been in real estate since 1986 and am always skeptical regarding an owners write up and pictures, but this is a time that I have to say "it was all that & more!" The Flynn's were wonderful to deal with throughout the entire process from reserving to check out. Pam make a delicious chocolate cake and John made us feel right at home. We took in Shakelford Banks, burial grounds and the Maritime Museum during our trip, but my daughter says playing at the house with her friends and the animals was her favorite part of the trip. I lost track of how many times I heard the word "awesome" when we arrived, but it is definitely the correct word for this home. I live on the NC coast at Oak Island, and really enjoyed the difference of their waterfront. If given the opportunity, I will definitely stay here again!

Great hosts, great house, great location-- I wish I were there now!

  • 5 of 5
Each spring, I take my Marine Bio class (college level) on a weekend field trip to experience first-hand what we've discussed in class all semester. I've never returned to the same place, always looking for something a bit better. I will DEFINITELY be bringing my classes here in the future, and will likely be bringing friends and family on other occasions.
The owners were very friendly and communicative with me leading up to the trip and were there to greet us. Upon arrival, it immediately felt like home, and intentionally so from the owners. When renting some houses, it's a pain to have to bring all your own towels and sheets and annoying to find that there's no hand soap or even toilet paper for you to use when you get there. This house had everything we could possibly need and more!-- plenty of linens, dishwashing soap, toilet paper, spare light bulbs, and even chocolate cake! Yes, that's right, she left not just one, but two chocolate cakes for our large group to enjoy.
We had a total of 12 people in our group and found plenty of dishes and silverware, and were even all able to dine at the same time sitting around the two side-by-side tables just off the kitchen. The house never seemed crowded, even with our large group.
The house is at the end of the road, peacefully backing up to the estuary. My students identified 50 different species of marine organisms right behind the house on the first day we were there.
There is plenty of waterfront and yard area to explore and play. The owners have left water shoes and boots at the house for people to use, if they desire, for their exploration and there are even a couple of kayaks available to use.
There are several domestic animals to visit with on the property--a couple of dogs, 2 donkeys and a mini-horse, a goat, a few chickens-- all wonderfully friendly and cared for by the owners.
The location is ideal-- a quiet, peaceful place, on the water, perfectly situated to watch the sun set. There is a large grocery store just 10 minutes down the road; if you continue on a bit further, there's the Beaufort waterfront with all the restaurants and shopping you could want. Head the other direction and you quickly arrive at Harker's Island, from where you can take an easy ferry ride over to Cape Lookout and Shackleford Banks.
I could go on and on about how great this place is-- the owners, the house, and the location. Neither my students nor I wanted to leave. I wish I could go back right now!

Owner's Response: Dear Carrie and Queens University friends, what an honor to receive such a positive review from you!! It was such a pleasure to meet you all. What a respectful and delightful group of well-mannered students...accompanied by a friendly and very fun and devoted professor! We are so happy you identified so many marine organisms in our water...we should have joined you when you were exploring to learn more about our shore!! We so appreciate you choosing our home for your "field trip". Hope to see you and your students in the future! Thanks again for taking the time to share your review.
Most sincerely, Pam and John
