Brandeglio is situated at 640m height on the top of a hill surrounded by woodlands facing Casabasciana and Crasciana villages on one side and the Lima valley on the other.
The earliest documents concerning Brandeglio as a village date back to 918 A.D.
The XV century Madonna delle Grazie Chapel and Santa Maria Assunta's dedicated church are worth a visit for their Romanesque architecture.
This whole area is ideal for hiking and mountain biking, with established routes and points of interest. There are tennis courts, public swimming baths and a thermal spa in Bagni di Lucca, horse-riding nearby and even white water kayaking in autumn down in the river Lima. Abetone ski resort is only a 45 minutes drive up into the Apennine mountains.Not too far in the Alpi Apuane Park there is the Grotta del Vento and mystical canyon Orrido di Botri.
