This self catering apartment is ideal for a fun summer holiday or for a relaxing retreat during the winter months, where people can enjoy the beautiful walks along the coast and inland into the hills of the Sierra D´ írta Nationl Park. Las Baladres is a gated and walled community and has a communal swimming pool for adults and a paddling pool for toddlers together with playing apparatus for children therefore providing facilities for all ages. Although the apartment is on the first floor, access to it is to the rear, on the ground floor with just a couple of steps to negotiate. A lift system is installed in each block and therefore the garden and pool area can be accessed by wheelchair users. A chairlift has been installed to access different levels within the complex. Amenities such as a small supermarket, restaurant, bar and coffee shop are within a few minutes´ walk together with tennis courts, crazy golf and large public swimming pool. Peñiscola and Sierra Dírta are situated on Castellon´s Costa Azahar, one of Europe´s top quality tourist destinations. The tourist office in the town is well stocked with local information and the staff are extremely helpful. You will also find a box of leaflets and a book about Peñiscola in the apartment. Peñagolosa is the highest mountain in the province. Its forests, rivers, gorges and fine sandy beaches can be enjoyed all year around because of the mild climate. As well as enjoying a family seaside holiday, the area lends itself to sport. The Panoramica de Sant Jordi sports complex and the Costa Azahar golf circuit can be accessed easily. In addition the Costa Azahar Golf Club is just half an hour´s drive from Peñiscola. The town itself is steeped in history and a visit to the old castle part of the town is a must. Film buffs will recognize the castle as the very same one used to film El Cid. This old quarter now boasts many small, romantic bars and restaurants.

Additional information about rental rates

  • A non-refundable deposit of 20% is necessary to secure dates and then on arrival a deposit of a 150 euros in cash will be required. Any breakages or damages will be deducted from the deposit at the end of the rental period.

    A small cleaning charge of 65 euros is levied for bed linen, towels and cleaning service.
    A welcome pack can be ordered for arrival.

    Long term rentals out of peak season are welcomed. These can range between one month and eleven months. The charge is negotiable - please ask for details. A deposit of one months rent would be required and then returned after the rental period if there are no breakages or damages.

    Discounts are available on last minute bookings.

    We request that arrival is not before 3 pm and departure is by 10:30 am. This allows our management team time to clean the apartment and change the bed linen and towels etc.
  • Guests will be welcomed by Martin or Sandra who are in charge of the property and live nearby if in any assistance is required re the apartment. Telephone numbers will be provided as well as clear directions on how to reach the apartment from the north, via Reus or Barcelona airport, or from the south, flying into Valencia airport.
  • A noticeboard in the apartment provides information about 'how things work' etc. Our telephone numbers will also be posted.

    Peñiscola is surrounded by spectacular countryside and wonderful light - to this end it is a paradise for lovers of painting. If you are interested in participating in a painting course in this area then please follow the link below and this can be arranged. The artist concerned, Mike Davies, actually lives on Las Baladres. He is also world renowned for his exquisite skill in carving Welsh love spoons.

The bedroom has fitted wardrobes and bedside cabinets with table lamps and a hairdryer is also provided. Ample storage space and hanging areas. There is an ensuite bathroom with shower over bath. Bedroom 2 is to the rear of the apartment with fitted wardrobes , bedside cabinets and table lamps and ample storage space. Use of second bathroom with shower cubicle, toilet and handbasin. Guests will find an ironing board and iron stored in the wardrobe of bedroom 2.

We live in Spain already and decided to have a short break in an area we didn't know. Next time we will definitly go back for longer.

The apartment was clean and spacious with a huge terrace and beautiful sea views. The surroundings of the natural park were stunning and the old town of Peniscola was charming with cobbled streets and many excellent restaurants and bars. There is something for everyone if you are looking for a traditional Spanish holiday away from the usual commercial resorts.
