Airlie Beach is an excellent base from which to explore the Great Barrier Reef. Snorkeling cruises depart daily from the resorts to visit the outer reef or the fringing reefs around the Whitsunday islands. The pretty bayside village of Ailrie Beach has a large selection of restaurants and cafes and a mixed array of tourist shops. Markets are held on the foreshore every Saturday morning and also when the large cruise ships stop in and visit the Whitsundays.
One of the main attractions in the Whitsundays is the iconic Whitehaven Beach It is one of the most visited destinations in the Whitsundays, and it has been rated as one of Australia’s and the World’s top beaches for many years.
Whilst travelling to Whitehaven Beach is popular all year-round, the best time of year would be during our winter July, August and September as this is when we are lucky enough to experience nice mild weather conditions and your chances on seeing a whale or two are very high as well.
There are so many different ways you can experience Whitehaven Beach.
Imagine flying over Whitehaven Beach and Hill Inlet; this is so amazing and a very unique experience. The beautiful turquoise, the swirling sands, the landscape - truly breathtakingly beautiful!! Now if you think that flying over the island is special, what about landing on the water and being taken to your own private part of the beach for you to relax and maybe have a few snacks and drinks, well this is all possible too, but I will now have to let you experience the rest as I think I have said too much.
If flying is not your thing; then there are 3 very popular options to see Whitehaven Beach by water either by overnight sailing, bareboat charter or a day trip. A range of options to suit all budgets.
Whichever way you decide to explore this beautiful paradise, you will have a memorable experience
