Our Lodge is a 45 minute drive from either Nelson or Castlegar B.C. and 3.5 hours drive from Spokane, Washington.

Nelson is a lively small town known for: it's skiing & mountain culture, it's heritage architecture and vibrant arts community.

Your stay will put you in the center of a world renowned wilderness playground featuring crystal lakes and rivers, spectacular mountain scenery and unlimited adventure. Our high country powder snow is legendary, and our natural Hot Springs are the way to relax all year-round.

David and I met in the Slocan Valley in 2005. We were married on a dock on Slocan Lake. I've lived here for 25 years and love it. It's a beautiful, peaceful place with a diverse community. I am a landscape painter and sculptor. All the art works in the home are mine and reflect my love of this Valley. Most of the realistic landscape paintings are for sale. The Lodge has beautiful natural lighting and is a perfect art gallery. A dream come true! I offer one-on-one art tutoring at my studio here. (View my portfolio on flickr. Just google Pam Sims.) My other interests include gardening, cooking and photography.

David has worked as a touring musician and managed a large ranch in Alberta. He loves hiking and paddling and plays music locally. We're friendly, easy going and knowledgeable about the area. You'll enjoy complete privacy of the home and yard. We live in a separate house on the property and are here to help if need be.

We look forward to meeting new people from all over the world. We will do our best to make sure you have a comfortable and memorable visit to the Slocan Valley. All people are welcome. Gay and Lesbian friendly.

The beauty of this pristine river valley area was what attracted David and I. Peace and Quiet. Fresh air and clean water. It's a safe place to live, and be accepted for who you are. Many creative and thoughtful people come here to escape urban and mainstream cultures. The Valley is known for spiritual healing, freedom of choice and Back-to-the-Land lifestyles. It's small communities are vibrant, positive and cooperative.

We are a 45 minute drive from Nelson, which is known as the 'Best Small Town Arts Community', in Canada. It's skiing scene is world renowned. We are a 45 minute drive to Castlegar and it's airport and mainstream stores. We are a 3.5 hours drive to the International Airport in Spokane, Washington.

I have enjoyed creating an artistic living space and bringing the outdoors to the interior with large windows and skylights.

Every room is beautifully lit with natural light, and has views of the garden and surrounding trees.

There is room to gather and connect, as well as have privacy. The house has 1650 square feet of floor space, on 2 floors, & a 14 foot ceiling in the main room. The entire home is beautifully finished with custom crafted woodwork, antiques and art. The romantic master bedroom space is 24 by 11 feet, with heritage wallpapers. There's room to waltz. The home is quiet and private, yet near to stores, restaurants & gas station. We like being able to walk or bike to the store or the river. It has easy year round access. The town of Winlaw is very friendly and welcoming.

Excellent Ski trip!

My group of 10 came out for a week over New Years for a ski vacation. The lodging was excellent and Pam and Dave were super accommodating and helped make the stay what it was! Very clean, lots of space! Full kitchen with any item imaginable. On behalf of the group we would all recommend it! The location was ideal enabling us to access two amazing mountains (Red Mountain and Whitewater). For our off skiing days there was lots to do in the area and the recommendations provided by Pam and Dave were very helpful. My group and I would stay here again!

It was a pleasure for our large wedding party to stay here. The Lodge catered to our every need and we were impressed by the spacious lounge area with adjacent kitchen. It was equipped with electric and gas stoves, and 2 spacious refrigerators. The large comfortable bedrooms overlooked well-kept grounds for camping. Although we were a large party, the spacious bathrooms were more than adequate for our needs. Each guest felt that this immaculately kept Lodge, had been a wonderful place in which to stay and would recommend it to others.

The house was great--clean, comfortable, lovely garden, comfortable beds, fully equipped with everything we could possibly have needed. Pam and David, the owners, live in the house next door, and were very helpful suggesting places for us to take the kids, go for lunch, and answering all of our questions. The house is also excellently situated for exploring Nelson and the surrounding area. We had a great week.

We have been vacationing in the Slocan Valley area for years and this year decided to try Paradise Valley Lodge. We were very pleasantly surprised at the great accommodations provided by Pam and Dave. The kitchen was fully furnished with all the utensils and dishes you could want and they even loaned us a cooler and ice packs for our trips for groceries. This was a great location for us with easy access to hiking, biking, trips into Nelson or just relaxing in the backyard garden or on the screened-in porch. Having a washer and dryer was great, we were able to get by with fewer clothes. Having 2 washrooms was a luxury. The Lodge was spotlessly clean, bright, airy and well maintained. We will definitely be back!
