In the South of France, in the beautiful Languedoc-Roussillon region, you will find in the countryside of the Gard the old village of St. Marcel de Careiret. A quiet village with 634 inhabitants, where close to the Bar de Midi on the small sunny village square, there are an épicerie for your daily needs and a boulangerie/pâtisserie with fresh baguettes and croissants every day.
Situated one kilometer from the village is our house, surrounded by vineyards.
On the ground floor we have created a spacious and cosy gîte with all the comforts for two couples or a family of up to 5 people.
During your holidays, the ambiance is very important and so are the facilities. Our gite is designed with this in mind. It is as sunny and blissful as the countryside it is set in. This way you can really enjoy the Southern-French atmosphere and rest, while having the comfort of your own washing machine and your own dish washer.
From the large side-yard patio you enter a sunny living room and open kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped, and going into the corridor you will find a romantic master bedroom with a beautiful view of the hills on the other side of the valley. Opposite the master bedroom there is a cosy second bedroom, containing a bunk bed and a normal bed. Further down the corridor, around the corner you will find a toilet with sink, and a separate shower-room. There you will find the washing machine, towels and a rain shower.
Also to your disposal are a vacuum cleaner, ironing board and iron, and a drying rack. For the small children there is a cot, high chair, baby bath, and inflatable baby swimming pool. We supply your towels, kitchen towels and bedlinen. There is no extra charge for all of this.
In this particularly sunny valley between the green hills, you can enjoy the peace and beauty of the countryside, as well as the lovely French wines. Local wine co-operatives are nearby for the essential warm red and cool rosé wines. The local wine is within the Côtes du Rhône wine region.
More extensive shopping can be done in the markets and supermarkets of nearby Alès, Uzès (Wednesday & especially Saturday) or Barjac (Friday). A visit to at least one of these markets is a "must do". If you love good food, wonderful scenery with a great climate and are thinking of a vacation in the South of France then this is the region for you.
Upon arrival you will find a welcome gift: a bottle of local red Côtes du Rhône wine, with a baguette and French cheese.
Welcome in our gîte!

Hello and Welcome. As the new owner of this wonderful holiday home, I hope to be able to continue the tradition of warmth and hospitality long established by Lilian and Michel, the previous owners.
I am a physician in active practice in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
I have had a long standing love affair with the South of France and equally long held dream of some day having my own little corner of heaven.
I've been fortunate enough to realize this dream and even better, I can share it with others.
