Le Gand Maine is a spacious and brightself catering apartment /gite in the heart of the Duras wine region. The property is surrounded by vines and plum trees in an idyllic and relaxing location. The apartment has a secluded,salt water swimming pool , surrounded by vines. The property is only 1km from the local village with a boulangerie, a superb restaurant post office & convenience store. The property was completely renovated in 2006, so you can expect all the conveniences you have at home including dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and wifi. With its large balcony it is a fantastic vantage point to watch the deer and other wildlife in the evening with a glass of the local Duras wine or just great for 'Al fresco' dining with the sunsets! Duras is the local Bastide town, it has a lovely 13th century Chateau which is open to visitors. Villeneuve-de-Duras is situated 10 km from the nearest Bastide town of Duras. Only 40mins from Bergerac airport,within 1.1/2 hours drive from Bordeaux, Dordogne, Arcachon, Agen etc. This area is the most famous wine producers in the world, visit St Emilion or the great houses of the Medoc, Pomerol, Monbazillac etc. Also try the brandy from the Cognac region, especially good is the 'Pure White'. Ste Foy la Grande is another local Bastide town which has one of France's top 100 markets.
