My husband and I re-met after 43 years! I'm a mom of four who works as a nurse and flipped houses on the side and he spent most of his career in real estate...selling houses, working in relocation and owning his own company. In 2006 we opened a bed and breakfast near Sturbridge, MA in our home that was built in 1765. When we're not working, we love to walk our property, garden, play with our two dogs and continue to renovate 'This Old House!'
Leslie Germaine purchased this house in 2005
Seacrest Rd is my 2nd beach property. I initially bought a seasonal cottage one mile away that badly needed to be fixed. I spent 3 years renovating that with the goal to sell it and find a year round home that we could retire to.
I grew up nearby and spent many wonderful days at all the CT beaches.....but Old Saybrook remains my all time favorite!
There is a wonderful path and sidewalk that runs along the beach in front of our home. You can walk all the way to Saybrook Point and view both Lighthouses and the famous Cornfield Point Castle. My favorite thing to do early in the morning is to have my coffee on one of the ocean front benches then walk along the beach to find that one special piece of beach glass. And the sunsets can't be beat!
6 of us stayed for a girls weekend and had the best time. Plenty of room for all of us and well equipped. We loved the deck. Location was terrific w water views and close to town. Leslie couldn't be nicer. We wld love to come back.
Our stay at this house was wonderful. Met with the owner who provided helpful information. House was well equiped and clean. All furniture was very comfortable and the water views were beautiful. Beach was a minute away walk and short drive to downtown area with great restaurants such as Paperback Cafe, Fiores, and Sweet Lunas.. Would definitely recommend this house and we are planning to come back next year.
This was my second year at this beach house, and I returned with more family to celebrate my father's 86th birthday. It was a spectacular vacation mainly because the house is so beautifully maintained by a proud owner whose pride in her home shows in every detail and amenity provided from beach toys and chairs to plenty of blankets and pillows as well as a fully-stocked kitchen complete with a dishwasher.
Stunning views of the Long Island Sound can be seen from nearly every room in the house, including the gorgeous deck where you can sip on your morning coffee while listening to the ocean waves and enjoy the unmistakable scent of the beach. On the deck, you will also find a gas and charcoal grill.
The owner's description of the house is not only accurate, but does not even begin to do justice to its beauty and optimal location in proximity to the private and well-maintained association beach. While the photos provide a spot-on glimpse of what you can expect, experiencing the home and all it has to offer must be done first-hand to truly appreciate. The comfort and hominess of the house are even condusive to spending a rainy day indoors watching a movie, reading a book or playing board games, all of which are provided, with the family. With so much provided and availble at your fingertips for your use during your stay, you need only bring your towels and bed sheets.
Not only is this house a magnificent and outstanding beach home, but its owner is quickly responsive and helpful in every way. Her caretaker, who greets you when you arrive and sees you off when you leave, is as wonderful and kind as the owner, both of whom are available throughout your stay should you need them for any reason.
Do not hesitate to rent this home for an unforgetable beach vacation. You will not be disappointed and will count down the days, as I am, until your next memorable stay in such convenient comfort. I have rented numerous homes on Knollwood Beach, and this, by far, exceeds all others in terms of location, water views, amenties, cleanliness, comfort and attention to all decorating details. The owner's love for her home and her desire to provide guests with an outstanding vacation are obvious to all who enter the cozy house. With all that is available, the rental fee is also very reasonable and well worth the cost. Its undeniable value will make it possible for you to entertain an entire family in an exclusive beach community while staying within a budget.
We have been coming to Old Saybrook for years, but this was our first time renting from vrbo/this house. It is just as pictured, if not better. Charming and cozy with plenty of places to enjoy views from bedrooms to sitting rooms to dining and lounging outdoors. We cannot wait to go back!!!
Simply delightful, are the two words I would use to describe our vacation at 4 Seacrest Rd. The house was immaculate, perfectly decorated and spacious for our family of 6. The views of the beach and the sound of the waves were breathtaking and as promised there were ample books, puzzles and games; as well as a fully stocked kitchen to help us enjoy during our stay. My husband and I are already saving and planning for our stay next year!
It was a joy to spend our family beach vacation in this home. There was plenty of space for everyone...and plenty of space for our 1 year old to run around in the house, in the yard and at the beach. The views of the beach from the home were breathtaking and calming. The proximity of the beach was convenient and was never too crowded. The home was well-maintained and comfortable. The homeowner was a pleasure to work with and answered any questions/requests in a timely manner. There is a small playground a few streets over which kept the little one occupied for a bit without having to clean sand off of him! All went well for our week long stay!
