An escape to a serene and peacful hamlet but minutes away from entertainment hub

A choice of 3 tranquil villa apartments with all amenities in this exclusive part of Malta. Quiet and peaceful yet only minutes away from the entertainment hub of Paceville and the more popular St. Julians Bay with its many restaurants and great bars. Properties also enjoys the use of a large swimming pool (41 sq m), sunbeds, deckchairs, hammock for a couple, 3 seater hammock swing, rocking bench, large umbrellas, gazebo seating for 8, barbecue area with its own fridge and kitchen facilities, shower and WC facilities by pool area. The dedicated solar heating system for the pool allows use of the pool from April to October. Access to pool area is via wooden bridge over large cascading koy fish pond. A further gazebo with vine tree is adjacent to a smaller water turtle pond. Very romantic setting in this hilltop area with extensive views of Malta, where the tropical garden and the cascading waters from the fish ponds continue to add to the serenity that the whole place seems to create.

Our pets: Our garden, although small, is very mature and extremely well kept, providing a tranquil atmosphere, also helped by the sound of the cascading waters in the background. Our own pets, (cats and dog), other than the koy fish and turtles already mentioned, also have their own separate dens, and are well kept, pampered and cared for.

For those who want more out of their holiday: The pool and garden areas have proven to be a refreshing start or close to any day, particularly if this was a warm or even a blistering one. But Malta has much more to offer than just lazing about in the sun. For this reason we have teamed up with some of the most interesting tour, leisure and event operators on the island, providing day cruises around the Maltese archipelago on a Turkish gullet, an evening’s entertainment extravaganza live show on the 1565 Great Siege of Malta, a visit to the nearby water marine park, an unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime experience swim with the dolphins, or how about exploring some of the most interesting dive sites in the Mediterranean. In collaboration with our friends at Go Dive Malta, we are now also able to offer this experience to practically everyone, from beginners to dive masters. Transport arrangements have also been secured for all these events to pick our guests from our apartments (or very close by).

What we stand for.: We have been called ‘a home away from home’ by some of our past guests, a name which honours us completely, and while we continue to dispense recommendations on what to do and where to go during your stay to help you better discover these culture-packed islands, we will strive to live up to that name and better our product.

This is the largest of our apartments having two bedrooms sleeping 4 to 5 people. The main bedroom is also equipped with an air conditioning unit. The spare bedroom, lounge area and kitchen/dining all have ceiling fans. The apartment also has two bathrooms (shower, toilet and sink facilities). A desk is also located in the short corridor area. Entrance to this apartment is down the short stairway alongside the koi fish pond, and opposite the vine tree gazebo.

What makes this apartment unique

The swimming pool is equipped with a dedicated solar heating system, almost guaranteeing the use of the swimming pool even for the summer shoulder-months, such as best part of April and October.

We are now also pleased to inform all our guests that the new jacuzzi installation is complete and running. The idea behind this was to replace our 4 seater open Jacuzzi with one that actually holds 9 people; this walk-in construction also takes the shape of a cave rather than having to leave the pool to get to the Jacuzzi bringing a whole new meaning to luxury. The pictures were taken during the night to add to the affect of the new lighting fixtures in the harem chill-out seating area. There is also a water rainfall to the entrance of the jacuzzi to add to the tropical ambiance and feel of this vibrant place.

In essence, the pool has been installed with a new liner; we have also replaced the lights in the pool with LED lighting, which also gives us the facility of altering the colour from blue, orange, red, green, purple, amber, and also a random selection of colours, making swimming at night a whole new experience altogether.

The inside of the jacuzzi is constantly painted in a soft blue light, which is accentuated by the silver coloured tiling inside as this reflects off it during the night, perfectly complimenting eachother.

The seating above the jacuzzi has been a real surprise as it turned out to be even better than what we had ever imagined it to be. Here we have placed garden furniture blending in perfectly to the setting. The frame to this area is fabricated out of wood with sack covering on top, giving it that harem feeling as you climb up the stairs and lounge in what is already a favourite area of many of our guests.

At the same time, we have also replaced our chlorination system to one that is more green, as this not only eliminates the taste of chlorine but makes the water that much clearer, making it even more enticingly exciting.

great apartments and fabolus house to stay in

Myself and four freinds booked all three apartments at the start of april,we where met by chauffeur and was driven to the location,upon arrival we where greted by josanne the host which shown around.myself and my friends where taken back by how beautiful the house and garden was compared to the photos.the huge swimming pool and nine person jacuzi is amazing to look at but unforunatley is was a tad bit cold to get into at the time of our stay.the family that lives here could not do as much to be helpful,IE: organise taxis if needed on a night out,tell you the best places to visit for sight seeing trips,organise car rental which in my opinion would be needed but it is cheap to hire a car,there son nat also is very helpful with any inquries you may have.the family also has a few pets cats dog turtles and amazing fish pond which really adds charachter to this lovley residents.i would defiently be going back to visit malta in the furture and i will be staying here again.my opinion great host,good location great value for money.

Owner's Response: It was a real pleasure having these guests staying with us, and although we would have loved the weather to be somewhat kinder to us (it sometimes felt like it was winter again at times), especially to allow the use of the swimming pool even at this early stage of the season, we hope we still managed to make amends. It was a fun night having you over for drinks and snacks one evening, getting to know eachother better which is what a holiday is normally all about, make one feel at home.

That was our first holiday in Malta, but I hope not last :) Arrived late and tired in Malta airport. Josanne (villa owner) send me instructions how to get to villa. We still manage to get lost, so she send her son to meet us. That was helpful. Villa is in a quiet area and car is essential to get to places. Nearest food shop 15 min away doh. Facilities exactly what expected. We rented yellow apartments, enough space for four adults and my 8 year old son. Two showers came very handy too. Swimming pool was bit too cold for me, but my friends had a dip on a sunny days. Garden absolutely great, a shame never had barbecue - not enough time. Oh well maybe next time :) Every time of our stay Josanne was very helpful, but not too much in your face..:) Villa is great for family or group of friends. Good for value. For couples I would look for something more luxury..

too far out from any main bar or restaurant

This had a lovley garden space however too cold to use due to exceptionally wet weather.

We hired a car, this area is in my opinion 'a bit out of the way' if you want to be able to walk to a bar or restaurant.

Toby the dog was a lovely presence and we became foster parents to one of the cats all week which we enjoyed

The appartment I feel is expensive for the quality and kettle was broke but no one checked to see if everything was ok - but we managed to boil with a pan of water....

Owners were very helpful in arranging lifts and being flexible with our arrival date although did not appreciate being told to hurry up and 'get straight to the appartment' when we wanted to stop for lunch on the way on the first day of our holiday

I would reccommend staying here in a group in nice weather to enjoy the garden area and pool but having visted Malta many times now would not stay in this area again. It felt very private which here and possible you will have an enjoyable stay here - thank you to Josanne for your help with our booking etc.....

Thank you for staying with us and we are sorry that the weather was exceptionally wet during your stay with us (we remember you also wished to swim).

These apartments are infact advertized as being 'out of the way' (an escape to a serene and peaceful hamlet) and that a car is recommended, thus our perhaps ridiculously cheap price during the winter months, especially for the Orange apartment (we are forbidden to quote prices but one can still look at the website to view our tariffs). Notwithstanding this, we still supply our guests with a full complimentary food pack, and at the end of the day, there is really not much profit left, but we do this out of love and the passion that comes along with welcoming new guests staying with us.

We are sorry that we had not realized that the kettle was broken - unless we are told about certain things we may not be able to know. With living above the apartment, we were not far away and we would have been glad to oblige and immediately replace it with a working one. We do like to leave our guests enjoy their privacy and so we prefer not to intrude on their holiday unless of course we are requested to do so to assist them.

On the day of your arrival, which had been understandably postponed a couple of times, we also had another arrival later that afternoon. As we realized that your flight had arrived late morning, we expected that at maximum you would be at the apartment around 13:00 hrs. We infact had made other plans for the afternoon (an arrival in another apartment) and so we were restricted for time. Unfortunately had we been advised earlier of your intention to go for lunch before visiting us, we would have tried to make alternative arrangements, and it was only after we called your mobile that we realized what your plans were.

Thank you for loving Toby, he is a wonderful dog, but our cat must have become over-accustomed to being fostered because we found a whole school of them (presumably its friends) in the apartment, having gone through the garbage, and making a mess on the beds, for which we have also had to throw away the mattresses, and to strip down the place completely - apparently the door must have been left open when you left the apartment on your departure.

Should you visit Malta again and wish to use us for your holiday, we can then recommend more central areas for our other apartments located in St. Julians, Sliema and St. Paul's Bay.

What do People Want !!!?

My friends and I go away every year, we are a group of usually about 10 Firemen who go away to celebrate St Pats Day, this year we went to celebrate St Georges Day, and decided on Malta. I originally enquired about another house but Paul contacted me and offered this. We were not disappointed, the pictures do not do it justice. We asked Paul to get us 100 bottles of beer in for our arrival which he did without question.
We were picked up at the airport and arrived to be shown round by Josanne, the apartments were spotless and cool, everyone was given a beer (oh yes there was a welcome pack in each apartment including more beer , champagne and bread, ham, cheese, jam etc)
Once we settled in and were enjoying a refreshing drink by the pool, Josanne prepared a beautiful meal for us (totally unexpected and very welcome). Within a couple of hours we were at home. The apartments were spotless and cleaned every day as is the outside patio area. If you don't like animals don't come, in other words look at the description written by the owners!!! When we ran out of beer Josanne would take us to the supermarket, there are even shops that will deliver.
When we went out we walked at first but as the week wore on we became lazy so Josanne ordered a minibus for us, we adopted it and used it to take us out and bring us back. Some days we would laze by the pool and have a barby, others we would hit Valletta.
So what if the owners are on site, do people have something to hide? We thought it was good for security, as was Toby the dog, you wouldn't want to tangle with him.
Negatives none, apart from the area isn't too well lit up at night, two of our party got lost going home but that was more to do with their incapacity to handle Maltese Beer rather that poor light.
Positives, too many to mention here but I'll try.
Clean airy apartments, superb patio area with different nooks and crannies to hide yourself away in. Superb hospitality from our hosts and I cannot stress this enough, if we wanted anything, we just had to ask. The pool was warm and clean, there is an outside shower room and toilet so you don't have to go in wet. Outside fridge so you don't have to keep going in for a beer. Outside seperate kitchen so you don't have get everything out of the apartments for the barby.
So to sum it all up, this is a fantastic holiday venue , whether you are a group of lads or a familly with kids, nothing is too much trouble for the hosts, P & J thanks for everthing x

Yellow appartment Madliena

Myself, my husband and our children (11 and 14) all really enjoyed our short break at this lovely appartment. It is about 20 minutes from the airport (owners arrange pick-up on arrival) and away from the crowds. The owners Paul and Josanne live on site, and are incredibaly helpful and friendly
The best thing is access to a lovely heated quiet pool and relaxing poolside area.
The nearest shops are about 15 minwalk(as are bus stops). A car is the best option to get around (arrnaged by owners if required with on site pick up and drop off)-driving is no where near as bad as the guide books suggest-but we found the Sat Nav on our phones invaluable as the signs aren't that clear.

Swimming with dolphins in the marine park is a real treat. We also enjoyed a Captain Morgan round island cruise with swimming at the Blue Lagoon in Comino (arranged by owners)

We also enjoyed a trip to the Traxien Temples and Hypogeum, although the latter needs advance booking on line.

All in all, I would recommend this location , even for a short break, if you want great weather, good food, clean and comfortable accommodation, and the chance to relax but also enjoy some local history and attractions

Fantastic holiday - just what we needed

Paul and Josanne were the perfect hosts. There to provide help and advice when needed - nothing was too much trouble.
The apartment was clean and well provided.
We felt completely at home.
You will need a car to be able to sight see and shop.
i would definitely recommend and will hopefully visit again.

Madliena's pristine location between two valleys provides a perfect opportunity for countryside walks. This hamlet is located on one of the highest points on the island thus helping to 'cool' down the hot summer nights with its gentle breeze off the nearby coastal areas. From here one can see right across the island, all the way from Marsaxlokk, to Mdina, Valletta, and the north of the island. An important feature in Madliena are the Victoria lines where a natural fault runs roughly east to west across the island. It was the British who, by 1900 built a series of forts with intervening walls and gun emplacements along the 12km of the ridge. Because of its vantage point, Madliena was mostly used for military reasons with the most important site being the Madliena Tower. Within close vicinity, one can also find the Meditteraneo Water Park, Malta’s only marine park. This is a popular place with its many water rides, attraction pools and marine part where one can also swim with dolphins.

Both the kitchen/dining and lounge areas are each equipped with large ceiling fans. There are various garden fixtures and furniture where one can lounge and rest. The gazebo overlooking the pool has seating for at least 8 people, a rocking bench for 3, a 3 seater hammock swing, a rope hammock for a couple, deckchairs, breakfast area by the pool with seating for at least 5, and other sundry miscellaneous items. The pool area also has its own toilet/shower facilities. The barbeque is also equipped with its own fridge thus one can easily find his cool drinks without having to go the apartment every time. In addition, the barbecue area is also equipped with a kitchenette. The smaller vine tree gazebo, with the turtle pond to the back and adjacent to the fish pond, also provides seating for another 4 persons. Close to this is another wrought iron table with seating for 4.
