Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Bunk Area, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-16)

The great out doors, best describes the Turtle Flambeau Flowage recreational area. Go on a boat ride and see the natural beauty, or for those who dare, take a kayak or canoe. Stop on the Islands for a hike, or shore lunch. With all the wildlife to keep you company. Great fishing, snowmobiling, kayaking, canoeing, biking, 4 wheeling, ice fishing, the family will not run out of things to do. The most important thing JUST RELAX.

Gateway 1 was built in 2008, with around 2500 sq.ft. of living space. Decorated with the north woods in mind, log beds and furniture throughout the cabin. Main floor has 2 bedrooms with log queen beds and dressers. Full laundry room, Hickory kitchen cabinets, full bath, dining area, sitting room with gas fireplace and family room with 42" flat screen tv. Loft has 2 queens and 2 xlong twins. Daylight basement has 1 queen, 4 xlong twins and full bath. In the morning sit and have a cup of coffee looking at the trophy Elk on the wall. Maybe go on the deck and have a glass of wine, while watching the loons. Sit by the large firepit and relax. Get the grill going and cook ribs, steak , a hamburger or come down to the restaurant and we will to that for you.

About The Owner

My wife Missy and I grew up in Illinois and have 3 children. We started vacation in Mercer in 1988. There would be 1 to 3 trips a year for snowmobiling. July of 2003 we came up for the first time in the summer. It was really nice and came back 4 more times that summer looking at property. Bought a house on echo lake and remodeled it through the winter. We wanted to find property on the Turtle Flambeau Flowage and started looking around. Found a piece of property that used to be a resort with bar and rentals. There was no operating bar or rentals for some time at this property. We decided to by it and make it into a private home. Then we started talking about all the resorts that used to be on the flowage(which most have sold off and are closed). Then the mind was made up to make the resort happen again. So we gutted the building and put in a full bar and restaurant and opened Jan. 2006. Then in 2007 and 2008 I built new rentals and Gateway 1 was born.

Why The Owner chose Mercer

Mercer was chosen for the nature, and the wide range of sporting activity. There is so much to do whether you hike or bike, paddle or want a boat to cruise in, skis with a motor(snowmobile) or cross counrty skiing, downhill skiing. Go hunting with a gun or camera. Its just so nice to be able to have all those choices.

What makes this cabin unique

Gateway 1 has a great setting and will bring memories into your heart for years. With full use of the property there are many things to do. Just sit by the fire and tell stories or make s'mores . Get a kayak, canoe or paddle boat free of charge at the bait shop. Put the food on the grill and sit on the deck and wait for dinner, or come down to the lodge and get some of the best food in the northwoods. Try Wayne's Famous Bloody Mary.
