Lovely apartment for up to 8 in renovated old building, extraordinary location

This duplex is in the heart of the old city, half way up the hill between “Baixa” (the “low” city) and Castelo São Jorge, the medieval castle.From here you can explore the narrow streets of Mouraria (the old Moorish quarter) on foot, go up to the Castle for the magnificent views, visit the shops and cafés of Baixa, or try grilled sardines at the restaurant next door.The apartment has 2 levels, connected by a spiral staircase: downstairs you’ll find the kitchen, dining-room, 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom; upstairs are the living-room, another bedroom, a bathroom, and a terrace where you can enjoy the view over Lisbon’s historic centre.The apartment is decorated in a pleasant, colourful style mixing antique pieces and modern furniture and using traditional Portuguese textiles (“chitas de Alcobaça”).It’s on the second floor (no lift) of an old 18century building recently renovated (with double glazing, heating).An ideal and picturesque base from which to explore Lisbon with family or friends!

In Lisbon you will enjoy an intense cultural life (museums, architecture, exhibitions, rock and classical music concerts but also little 'fado' houses); a wide variety of restaurants, from the small 'tasca' next door to the big modern style restaurants on the riverside; theatre, cinema (original language with Portuguese subtitles), nightlife. The shopping is excellent. You can walk around the town centre, take the “eléctrico” (tramway) to Belém to visit the Jerónimos Monastery, the train to Cascais along the coast to one of the nearby beaches, take the ferry at Praça do Comércio to see Lisbon from across the river... Less than 20km away you will find many beaches: Caparica (south of the Tagus), a 20km continuous stretch of sand, and Guincho (near Cascais), world famous for surfing and wind-surfing. Golf players will find a dozen golf courses within a 30 minute drive, on both sides of the Tagus.

Central place, comfortable, but so many steps!!

The apartment is good, a little old but comfortable. The area is quiet, with a greengrocers and supermarket nearby. The only flaw is to climb stairs to arrive at Rua das Farinhas, and the scale of the building that is really heavy. But if you're young is not a problem. The house is just like in the photos, only furnishings are a bit outdated. Generally a great place to spend a little and feel good.

A touch of Lisbon

For those who like to «feel the touch» of Lisbon, this is the right place to stay. Very close to public transports network, but the street is quiet and the view from the terrace is superb. Not very convenient if you have/need a car, because parking can be difficult in the evening (but not during the day).

Good apartment, convenient location, fair price

This apartment is conveniently located on quiet street in the deceptively convenient Mouraria district of Lisbon.  It is just a short walk (a bit uphill) from two of the main squares of the historic quarter.  There is a steep but not overly long walk up to the Castelo San Jorge, which looms above the astonishing balcony of the apartment.

The apartment is quite decently furnished, with 2 bathroons and a small kitchen.  Everyone enjoyed a good sleep for the days we were there.  Our friendly landlady Isabel did her best to take care of our needs, and certainly made us feel welcome upon our arrival, when we were disoriented from our flight across the Atlantic.

We have rented apartments in France, Italy and Mexico, and California.   This apartment fit within the range of apartments which we prefer, and was decent value for the price.  We would have no trouble going back to it.

Close to city centre

We have just come back from four nights in Lisbon. We stayed at Isabel’s apartment on Rua Las Farinhas.
The listing description was accurate regarding the location, layout, facilities, etc? It is a very interesting apartment, with excellent use of the space. It is on two levels with good views from the terrace over Lisbon.
the property was very clean, well-maintained and had just about everything we needed.
Isabel arrived to meet us on time and was there when we were leaving (even though it was 8.30am).
I would really recommend this apartment to people wanting to stay in Lisbon. Not only is it a great apartment, it is also really close to the city centre and I mean a seven or eight minute walk. No need for taxis here.
Biaxa was good for restaurants and the Bairro Alto for bars. You must visit the Castle, the Guggenheim and take a walk along the Tegus.
