|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
This property is perfect for a large groups - family reunions, 2-3 families vacationing together, corporate retreats, small weddings, girls weekends, scrapbooking or quilting clubs and more!
Windows abound with views of Mt. Baker and the Canadian Cascade mountain range. Watch the moon rise over the water (wide views of Hales Passage.) Catch a peek of the ferry gliding by! Enjoy the water without worrying about young kids accessing the beach unexpectedly.
Why Lummi when there are so many wonderful San Juan Islands? Lummi Island is the most accessible, with a relatively inexpensive ferry that runs 1-3 times/hour. No long lines! Day trips to Vancouver, Seattle and Bellingham are easy. Lummi Island is the smallest of the islands served by a public ferry (approximately 900 residents). There are fewer seasonal visitors, allowing Lummi to maintain it’s island charm, without feeling crowded or “touristy.”
This home has four spacious bedrooms, comfortably accommodating the maximum number of beds: the master bedroom has a king bed and sitting area; the second bedroom has two queen beds; the third bedroom has a double bed; the fourth bedroom has four twin beds. Using the provided screens allows for privacy in a 'bump out' with a double futon. Try one of two memory foam mattresses for a dreamy sleep. A porta-crib is available.
You will be on 'island time', so plan for lots of relaxation. Enjoy happy hour on the sunny 750 square foot deck, complete with an eight-person hot tub. After the sun goes down, go inside and prepare dinner in the large kitchen (stocked with all the cooking/baking basics.) Five friends can keep you company at the attached counter, where they can visit, yet keep out of the way of the cook!
In the morning, either sleep late (black out curtains in three of the four bedrooms), go out for a walk on the Curry Nature Preserve only moments from the front door, or drink your coffee watching the sun rise over Mt. Baker.
This home features a state of the art whole-house water treatment system. This is a must for homes on wells, like all are on Lummi Island.

We are an active family of seven; we make family and recreation a priority, enjoying each other and the beautiful area.
Kjerstin Secord purchased this house in 2001
We are long-time residents of Lummi Island. When our children reached an age they needed to be closer to school activities, we moved to town. Lummi Island is magical and beautiful; we couldn't bear to part with the house when we moved. We still escape to the island to play and unwind, and we invite friends to enjoy the island with us.
We value our time in the home and on the property because there is something for every member of our family here...
* an enormous, fully-loaded kitchen for our gourmet chef
* lots of wide-open yard for our active kids
* a sunny deck with comfortable Adirondack chairs for our reader
* quiet roads and trails for our runner
* a large kitchen garden for our 'green thumb'
A recent guest left this charming comment in the guest book:
"Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home! All the small and tasteful details make this house so welcoming and almost fairy-tale like."
We've tried to make this house feel more like a home, and less like a generic vacation rental. While it is pragmatic to keep vacation rentals simple, with fewer items to clean, repair or replace, it can result in a 'sterile' environment. There are many little touches around this home, lending it personality. Some included and unexpected items are practical, like band-aids and office supplies, while others are whimsical, like plants in antique teacups and hummingbird nests.
We hope you can visit and discover the details too! With thanks to the author for the lovely comment, Kjerstin
We visited this gem last summer and fell in love upon arrival! The home was so inviting and felt very welcoming! There was plenty of room for everyone and my sons especially enjoyed finding little nooks to tuck away in and have forts in! They also enjoyed the huge yard and play house. The older kids and adults enjoyed the deck and the hot tub. We also enjoyed the fact that there was enough space we could all have dinner in one room together!! We will be back! thank you all for your wonderful hospitality!!
This house was fantastic. There were 6 of us friends there for a getaway. The kitchen had everything we needed, the rooms were lovely and the living room was perfect for sitting around and catching up. I didn't get a chance to meet the owner because I missed the ferry! whoops;my friends met with the owners friend and were shown around the house. The hot tub and deck were nice although it was raining very heavily the weekend we were there we still hopped in.
The house was exactly as advertized and clean and lovely and we will definitely be back next year. Thank you!
Our stay was absolutely perfect in every way. The home was gorgeous and functional. But the hospitality of the owner was the most amazing part. We look forward to staying again.
With comfortable beds, soft linens, a fully stocked kitchen, we felt rested and pampered, with all our needs taken care of…so we could get to our joyful work of connecting with ourselves and each other.
This beautiful home was clean and charming - with cozy spaces, and expansive views. A hot tub and a sunny deck. The perfect environment for our purposes - whether in the rain or sunshine.
Kjerstin was super quick with communications, warm, and easy to work with.
Music, sketching, painting, yoga, cooking, deep conversations, and quiet reflective time. This location made all of these things possible. This has been our favorite spot, and we're planning to make this Gem our regular spot. : )
This Lummi Island home was beyond fabulous for our mini-family reunion. The owner, Kjerstin, was extremely personable and friendly. She truly had thought of everything in this amazingly well-appointed home! There was plenty of comfortable space for adults and children, the home was impeccably clean, the furnishings lovely, and there were so many "extras" not often present in a rental - toiletries, ability to do laundry, millions of children's items to use (pack & play, toys, books, baby gates at the stairs, outdoor sports toys), a beautiful garden, chickens to watch, great outdoor deck and table, hot tub, grill. The island is also wonderful for a long run or hike, blackberry picking in the summer, enjoying the Puget Sound views, etc. (and the Willows Inn and its associated restaurants are great!) We had planned to come and go a little from Lummi, but enjoyed the island and particularly this house so much that we never left. We get back to the PNW every summer, and we will definitely return to this newly-discovered gem!
Our large family of 15 (six adults, nine kiddos) stayed at this beautiful home for four days and had a WONDERFUL time. The large yard was safe and toddler-friendly and the kids had space to RUN. We roasted marshmallows and hot dogs in the fire pit, watched movies one afternoon during the rain, hiked to the top of Lummi Island for a breathtaking view, and BBQ'd hamburgers on the beautiful grill. Kjerstin's kitchen is very well stocked, the home is full of very thoughtful details. Can't recommend this property enough!
