Great Getaway
We had a fantastic time at the Chalet. Our top priorities for our vacation were peace & quiet, cooking in, BBQ, hiking, kayaking and outdoor dining. We arrived late on Tues night to find the house aglow and welcoming. From the drive we walked down the gravel path, past the fire pit and wood stack, through the trees to the front porch. The house is adorable with a bedroom and full bath downstairs. The upstairs loft reached by a tight spiral staircase was very cozy. Wed morning I checked the first item off my vacation "to do" list with coffee on the porch! We went hiking, kayaking, visited Lake Placid, and a local farmer's market. We cooked dinner in every night and every meal included grilled veggies, fruits and/or proteins. We very much enjoyed eating our creations on the deck. I did have to do a bit of work while there and the wifi worked great.
A few notes: May not be ideal for tall people. The shower head is really low b/c of the A-Frame. And one side of the bed in the bedroom of the first floor was a bit challenging to get in and out of b/c of the slope of the roof. We brought a set of sharp knives and could have used a large saucepan with a tight fitting lid. Other than that the kitchen had everything we needed.
Bob answered all of our pre-trip questions and sent us very helpful info about hiking, kayaking, farmer's markets and downhill biking at White Face.
Fantastic location for skiing at White Face.
If you enjoy chocolate check out the Candy Man in Wilmington on Rte 86 (I think). The dark pecan turtles were amazing!
I would definitely recommend this place to a friend looking for a peaceful and relaxing getaway!
