Large, bright, spacious duplex apartment in private gated development with swimming pool, internet and English TV. Open roof top views and outside terraces for eating. Air-conditioned throughout. Three bedrooms (one with a balcony), luxury bathroom, large kitchen, large living room with French windows. Huge games room/third bedroom upstairs with a small terrace. Good quality table football and large electric air-hockey table. Three minutes walk through cobbled streets to the main square and River Gilao. There’s a wide range of restaurants ranging from smart and sophisticated to local and casual. Tavira boasts a huge indoor market (fresh fruit and veg, meat and fish) three minutes walk away. Several golf courses nearby. Catch a boat to the glorious long sandy beach (life guarded), it has some great cafes and restaurants and is really quiet further along. You don’t need a car.

Golf: Tavira is an excellent golf centre, with some quality courses within a short distance e.g. Benamor, Quinta da Ria, Quinta de Cima and Colina Verde.

In the evening, you can stroll out of the door and into Tavira's charming restaurants and bars.

The Algarve has over 300 days of sunshine a year on average.

About Ivor Tillier

Originally from Buckinghamshire, I live in London with my partner Kate. I work for a company that publishes academic journals for science, technology and medicine (and the Dummies series of books!). Kate works for the NHS.

I actually do something called 'User Experience', which means building websites that are useful and usable. This involves lots of listening to people to find out what they really want and then making sure that the website contains all the right features and that it is easy to use.

This is why I love renting out the apartment so much. It's all about talking to people and making sure that the apartment will give them what they are looking for - a pleasant and relaxing place to stay.

There's more to it than that though. The interesting thing about building websites is that they don't sit in a bubble. When you use websites, you have lots of things going on around you. And, what you do on the site often has an impact later on (like you now - looking for a place to go on holiday!). So when I build websites, I don't just think about the site, I also think how it is going to help the person in their day to day life. That's the same with renting a holiday home.

Going on holiday is a journey, you look for somewhere to go, you make a decision, you pack, you fly there, you have a wonderful holiday and then you return and tell your friends family and colleagues at work about it. I want to make sure that the bit where you stay in a wonderful apartment is brilliant because I really know how important it is in your life.

Why Ivor Tillier chose Tavira Town

Kate and I have been going on holiday to Tavira for over 20 years. We always used to stay in an apartment near the castle owned by a lovely lady but unfortunately a few years ago she decided to stop renting so we had no choice but to find something for ourselves.

The thing with the castle is that it is a bit of a hike up the hill. Horta Poco do Bispo has such a great central location and so close to the market. Also, we bought it when it was being built had so had a really good insight into the quality of the project.

What makes this apartment unique

We have really tried to add all of those little touches. Things like a library of books, a selection of games and DVDs and a good kitchen knife for chefs. Always on hand, we have a lovely local family that look after the apartment for us (and clean it fastidiously!). And, finally, the location, it's central but quiet and it's only three minutes walk to both the huge indoor market and the boat to the beach (the town is on your doorstep).

Lovely spacious apartment in the centre of Tavira

The apartment is a modern, spacious and bright property in a high quality development. It is in a quiet location yet very conveniently located within a few minutes walk of the centre of town.

When we arrived, we were met and shown around the apartment. Everything was immaculately presented and well equipped, we were short of nothing.

The owner was extremely helpful and provided detailed information not only on how to get to the apartment but on things to do and places of interest in and around Tavira.

In returning to Tavira we would make this place our number one choice.

EXCELLENT SPACIOUS APARTMENT, EVERYTHING PROVIDED

We decided to stay based on other positive comments positive comments posted here and because we wanted to be in the centre of town. We endorse everything others have said; the apartment is spacious and very clean. We did not use the games facilities on the second floor but they would be ideal for children to let off steam and get from under parents' feet or even for a parent to get out of the way for a quiet read, do some yoga, etc. Very comfortable beds, good Wi-Fi connection was very useful, and plenty of room in the kitchen which is well stocked with decent pans and cutlery, which you don't always find. Mini market for basics just 2 minutes walk away, bigger supermarket over the river and the Continente a short drive away over the big bridge. Plenty of good restaurants close by serving super-fresh fish. If you are interested in birdwatching as we are, Tavira is an excellent base with saltpans and river within easy walking distance and further sites within a short drive. Flamingos and spoonbills galore, we were delighted with the birds we saw so easily. I have only good things to say about this apartment and Ivor is to be congratulated on his attentiveness and attention to detail. We hope to return shortly and would recommend this apartment unreservedly.

Great Apartment, great place, great service!!

Having rented a villa for last few years, we were dubious about renting an apartment but we had nothing to worry about. This felt like a house, over two floors. Bright, airy, clean, air-con and every conceivable extra needed for a sun holiday. Easy english instructions for all the machines and the most comfortable bed we have EVER slept in! It was an absolute pleasure dealing with Ivor who was genuinely interested in helping us have a great holiday. The apartment is literally two minutes from everything including a local square with mini supermarket, a short walk to the river to take boat the beach (really pleasant trip), and a stroll to the Roman Bridge which takes you across the river to a really quaint area of little streets and great restaurants. Every day we discovered a new shortcut to our favourite places. We had sun on the bedroom balcony for breakfast and sun from mid afternoon on the front balcony. Apt is at the end of a row on 1st floor so no passers by which is good. Tavira itself is a lovely place, very friendly locals, and quite reasonably priced good restaurants. Three bridges to remember, the big bridge from Villa Gale Hotel takes you to the large shopping centre, the middle (rickety) bridge takes you to a good large supermarket and the roman bridge which takes you to old streets, all within walking distance. Wifi in the apartment worked without a problem and was very handy to use on our phones. Overall, a great apartment in a great place with great customer service!!! Thank you Ivor.

Tavira is a lovely place to stay and this apartment could not be falted. Car not needed as close to trains and buses.Lots of cafes and restaurants nearby and walks from door.

Superb accommodation

We have recently had the most wonderful week in this beautiful apartment. From the moment we expressed an interest in booking, Ivor was helpful and attentive, providing a wealth of information about the location and making all the necessary arrangements to ensure our comfort. The apartment has every conceivable appliance and facility, a lovely kitchen, attractive, comfy furniture and beds, and tons of wardrobe space. It was spotlessly clean (thank you Celia) and there were more than enough towels for the four of us and blankets for the chilly nights. Tavira is a very interesting town, quaint and charming but lively in parts too. The huge indoor market is worth a visit for unusual fruits and ginormous tomatoes, and there's the usual variety of supermarkets for other essentials. We were exceptionally lucky as the weather, for November, was amazing and we were able to relax on the sunny terrace in between daily jaunts around the town or to the nearby beaches. We had a hire car but you could holiday here without one, it simply meant we could explore a bit further afield. By the end of the week we had just about worked out the route back to the apartment! We didn't use the pool but two of our party were brave enough to swim in the sea. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this holiday home, it's delightful.

Great Centrally located modern apartment in Tavira

my family and I had a fantastic time in this spacious apartment in a quiet but very central area of Tavira. the apartment was really well equipped and had the bonus of a shared pool and being a minute's walk into the centre of Tavira.

It was a few minutes walk from the huge market for fresh fruit and vegetables and fish. We could also walk into the centre to the restaurants and for ice creams and the many cafes and bars.

I would recommend for families as a great place to visit and the apartment to stay in because of its location and the attention to detail provided by the owner.

we loved the Ilha de Tavira beach and catching the boat across and the Splash and Slide water park as well as the fantastic ice creams and cakes. A fantastic holiday!!!

Tavira 'The jewel of the Algarve' is on your doorstop. Whether you want to wander romantic cobbled streets looking at the 37 churches or soak up the sun on huge expanses of sandy beaches - Tavira is a wonderful place for a holiday.

Restaurants range from smart and sophisticated to local and casual. If you’d rather eat in, Tavira boasts a huge indoor market (fresh fruit and veg., meat and fish) three minutes walk away. Otherwise, just sit back and watch the world go by in a one of the pavement cafes.

The glorious long sandy beaches stretch for miles. The nearest called 'The island' is reached by a short boat ride (leaves from the town centre in Summer, 20 minutes walk at other times). There are no roads or hotels but there are still some great cafes and restaurants selling the freshest fish you could eat!

Tavira makes a great centre for golf holidays. There are several in the area.

Nearby Faro is a great town to explore (catch the train) and go shopping.

Golf: There are some very good golf courses in the area such as Benamor. In te evening, you can walk out of the apartment and enjoy the restaurants of Tavira.
