Overview

Pike/Pine Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Apartment, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)

The Nest in the Heart of the City is a charming apartment located on the cusp of downtown, Capitol Hill, and First Hill. Up on the eleventh floor, It looks westward over the city, and down on the convention center. Nestled at the top of the trees, the afternoon light fills it with a bright warmth as the sun traverses the sky.

The building was built in 1947, and the apartment has recently undergone a green 'eco' remodel. The original oak parquet floors were refurbished, and the wood trim is all recycled old growth Douglas fir that was lovingly sanded down. Both were refinished with all-natural Tung oil. The paint has no VOCs (volatile organic compounds), and compliments the newly tiled kitchen and bathroom. The total effect is stunning.

The Nest is the perfect place for anyone who craves a healthy, green living environment. No chemicals are used during cleaning, and there are plants all around. Rest assured that you can breathe easily if you are chemically sensitive or just desire a healthy place to lay your head.

Just steps from the Washington State Convention Center and a few blocks from the heart of downtown, the Nest is situated near Seattle's many cultural amenities. Just a stroll away, you will find The Paramount Theater, Act Theater, Town Hall, and countless cafes and eateries. Enjoy the Capitol Hill nightlife and all that Broadway has to offer. Even without a car, every part of the city and metropolitan area is easily accessible. Link Light Rail is a couple of blocks away, as is the extensive Metro bus lines. The apartment comes with a parking spot, so no need to worry about downtown parking, but once you arrive, you can leave it there for the duration of your stay! There is a $30 flat fee for parking automatically included in the rental price; if you come without a car, just let me know and I will gladly remove that fee:-)

All of the comforts of home are here to make your stay relaxing - and even romantic! After a soak in the beautifully tiled tub, step out onto the warm, heated tile floor. The master bedroom has two extra long/extra wide twin-sized beds which can push together into a king if desired. There is a memory foam topper that makes the line between the mattresses disappear, so it is quite comfortable. Twins are the default, so if you want the king bed, just let me know!

Gaze out across the city to Lake Union from the bed, and you might never want to get up! The second bedroom has a queen sized bed, and visitors love the opening in the wall that connects the living space with the bedroom. The opening allows for panoramic views of the city and trees; close the shutters to create privacy if desired. All the cozy beds have soft sheets with high thread-counts, and luxurious down comforters.

Come stay for pleasure or business. Either way, you will be equipped with a lovely antique desk, wireless internet service, cable TV, and a brand new 40' flat screen HDTV.

Come stay at The Nest, and experience its natural beauty and exquisite location... in the heart of the city! I look forward to hosting you soon...

About Suzanne

Hello guests!

My name is Suzanne, and I am a Sign Language Interpreter, Massage Therapist, adventurer, traveler, and people lover. I run two vacation rentals, one on Vashon Island (ask me about it!), and one here in the heart of Seattle. I am originally from New York, but was drawn to the beauty of the Northwest, with its mountains, water, and wilderness. I hope to share a piece of all that I love here with travelers from far and near. Looking forward to meeting you!

Suzanne purchased this apartment in 2011

Why Suzanne chose Pike/Pine

I chose this apartment to be my 'pied a terre', or city home because I live on Vashon, but work in Seattle, so I wanted to have a place I could stay and live during the work week. The location for this condo was ideal, being next to downtown, near Capitol Hill, theaters restaurants, and the Convention Center.

What makes this apartment unique

I love being so near to the heart of the city, especially if I've been in my rural Vashon home for a stretch. I like being able to walk everywhere; go to movies, out to eat, shopping, etc, and never get in a car. I love the view from my perch, especially that I can look down and see trees and greenery planted on the convention center, as well as buildings of the city scape in the further distance, and the peek of Lake Union from the master bedroom. What a treat!

I was looking for an apartment for 5 of us and the most important things were location and price. The Nest is absolutely perfect for what we needed. You really can't get a better deal than this in this type of location. We were 10 minutes (max) walkign distance from Pike Place Market, and right in the heart of the downtown shopping scene. There was even a secure garage that we could use which is brilliant in this part of town. The apartment itself was also great, with plenty of space and super clean. The owner even had a welcome basket waiting for us complete with some wine and seattle treats.

Darling, Convenient, Clean and Safe

  • 4 of 5
We stayed in this darling condo during a recent Seattle Gift Show. So conveniently located, we were able to walk safely to the Convention Center and to a wide variety of restaurants that are nearby. The condo is so cozy and inviting! Suzanne had a lovely basket with a bottle of wine and goodies waiting for our review. We were challenged using the remote control on the TV (our issue not the TV), so we called Suzanne. She called us right back and walked us through the process.

Four days in Seattle-no rain!

  • 3 of 5
My stay in the Nest was for a 3 day seminar which was within walking distance. It is also within walking distance to the Light Rail station, which goes directly to the Airport for $2.75 one way. The condo was clean and comfortable and the bed (Queen) was very nice. The welcoming basket was a good touch and I enjoyed the snacks. Since I was staying there alone and had no car to park in the parking garage, I would have expected a reduction in the fees, but none was given, even after asked. So, given that, the cost was high for the stay. That is one reason for the lower rating. It was nice to have the washer and dryer in the condo. The dishwasher did not have detergent so was not used. It would have been nice to have paper towels and Kleenex in the unit. Overall, the unit is a good one. I would not stay there if it is summertime. No air conditioner. The access to the building requires negotiating a very steep outdoor stairway after going up a VERY steep hill. Difficult with luggage.

Owner's Response: I'm sorry that this renter was not satisfied with her experience at the Nest. This renter booked in full online and after the fact wrote to ask me, "What kind of discount can you give me for these days?" My off season price is already discounted; I don't offer a discount based on number of renters. Perhaps she should have chosen a smaller unit more fitting her needs. I did refund the $30 flat fee for parking, which I always do if someone does not have a car. There was no AC because this renter was there in November; this coming summer the unit will have AC provided. The steep staircase she referred to is on the opposite side of the building from the directions I gave her to access the keys. Most people find accessing the keys to be simple and painless.

Beautiful, conveniently located, and spacious

  • 5 of 5
The owner provided quick responses to all emails, the condo was conveniently adjacent to the convention center, very clean and the kitchen incidentals were well stocked. Check-in was a breeze, parking was convenient, the condo was very comfortable, check-out time is beyond reasonable, and steps to check-out were simple to follow.

The only complaint I had is that the majority of the electrical outlets need to be replaced, as prongs are not gripped by the existing outlets and cables would fall out with the slightest movement. It was inconvenient, and a bit of a safety hazard, but I don't feel that it is sufficient to dock a star. I would definitely recommend this condo to anyone attending an event at the Washington Convention Center.
