Charming and Convenient

I stayed for a week while attending a conference. The flat was in good order, spacious, and comfortable. Great light and a very relaxing garden in the back. Barbara (the owner) was most gracious and welcoming. The apartment is conveniently located to the central elements of Castro and a short walk to multiple forms of public transport to get you everywhere else. With all the great restaurants in the area we hardly left the neighborhood for food or entertainment. The flat played an important role in making this my most enjoyable visit to San Francisco.

What a wonderful discovery on VRBO! I visited my daughter for Super Bowl weekend and stayed at this apartment that is very comfortable, tastefully decorated, and very close to my daughter's flat in the Castro. Barbara (owner) was very welcoming and made me feel at home. And the bed is so comfortable, which is important for my back. Highly recommend this vrbo to folks visiting San Francisco.

Perfect Stay, Beautiful Flat

Submitted: January 7, 2013 Stayed: August 2012
My husband, one year old son, and I stayed in this flat for a month before we moved out of the SF Bay Area. We had already given up our long term apartment and wanted a place, centrally located in the city, to hang out for a bit. It was absolutely perfect. The description is spot on. The photos are close-ups so you can't really tell, but the flat is very spacious. It is elegantly decorated and carefully maintained. The owners, who live just below, were extremely helpful and friendly. I would recommend that you book this place right away, but I'm also hoping that it's available for us again next time we pass through SF!

Wonderful Week

5 of 5
Submitted: August 31, 2012 Stayed: August 2012
My husband and I appreciated the comprehensive description of the flat and the photos, and we agree with the thorough and accurate reviews above.
We have rented many apartments in the US and Europe and feel this was the nicest one. It has been our usual experience that when we couldn't get a key to unlock the door on our arrival or couldn't figure out how the entertainment center worked we had to deal with such problems over the phone with owners who were half a continent away. Here the owners were just a floor away, and they were very solicitous and helpful.
As for the neighborhood, I enjoyed a morning latte at Queen Malika in the next block. The owner recognized me and remembered what I ordered the second time I went in. My husband has food allergies, so we didn't eat out, but we had a great time at the Friday night film at the historic Castro Theater - the pre-film Wurlitzer concert, the 1939 comedy "The Women," and the enthusiastic audience.
We arrived by car, so during the week we were able to move it without a problem, for the street cleaning and parking hours restrictions. My husband is a runner and found the neighborhood streets and a nearby park very satisfactory for his early morning run. We also spent our week "hiking" the city and easily got to our starting points by the 33 bus in front of the flat or the old trams at Castro and Market. We bought the one week transportation pass.
A week wasn't enough time, though, so we hope that we can return before too long.

Castro Contemporary Flat- One Bedroom

5 of 5
Submitted: July 15, 2012 Stayed: July 2012
I recently spent a week in SF on business. I stayed in the Castro district of the city, in a wonderfully charming & cozy apartment; close to everything I could possible want, need or desire.
One evening, I decided to take the trolley down Market Street (restored trolleys from across US cities, circa 1950) “home” to the Castro, from my meeting downtown. At my stop I bustled through the folks gathered at the corner. Right there is the Twin Peaks bar; a favorite for the locals and full of history and people watching And, a few doors down is the Castro Theatre. What to do? I stopped at Mollie's for their chicken/pecan/grape and poppy seed salad, walked the few block home, mixed a G&T in the kitchen and settled down in the garden oasis for a quiet and relaxing moment. It was hard to believe I was in the city. It was so peaceful and lovely. What a great place to stay in SF. Perfect!
The owners have done a great job in listing all the amenities of the Castro neighborhood and beyond. Especially the myriad places to feast and have fun. In addition, there are fabulous walks & hikes, right in the neighborhood. It’s possible to do a work out and see fantastic views of the city, all in one go.
The apartment is soothing and very well appointed. It has a Zen feel. Lots of lovely linens, wood floors, beveled windows and the bed is super comfy.
If planning an extended stay in the City and you like to cook……..the kitchen is very well appointed. A very easy place to settle in to.
Cheers!
