This apartment was so comfortable and beautiful.

  • 5 of 5

I had a lovely stay in this apartment. I was working and visiting family for 9 days and just found this a lovely retreat. Beautiful sun in the morning in the kitchen, lovely windows in the living room area, comfortable bed, with extra special sheets. So close to the action on Castro but so quiet in the evening. Barbara is a wonderful host and this apartment had all of the touches that make a place feel homey, including lovely posters on the wall, different options for making coffee, and plenty of outlets for charging all of your electrical devices. I will definitely stay here again when I visit San Francisco. Highly recommended!

Beautiful and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

I LOVED staying at this apartment while I was in San Francisco for a conference. The apartment is beautiful with many period details lovingly preserved. It is spotless and well equipped. My conference was in the Union Square area and it was very easy and fast to get there by public transportation -- under 20 minutes including the atmospheric walk from the apartment to the Castro station. The neighborhood is very safe and I had no concerns about returning to the apartment at night. It was so nice to have a peaceful retreat away from the conference hubbub! I will definitely stay here again when I'm in San Francisco for business or pleasure.

A STELLAR RESTING PLACE IN THE HEART OF THE CITY

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of staying a week in this beautiful apartment. We wanted a centrally located place that would give us easy access to all of the city. Without a doubt the property gave us all of this and more. We had a rental car but really didn't need it considering we were walking distance to superb restaurants, grocery stores, pubs, coffee shops, and the MUNI public transit system. The neighborhood has it all with night life, busy streets with shops, and options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The apartment owners have thought of everything when considering comfort and all the necessities that are desired when away from home. We slept well on the bed because of its soft but firm enough feel that provided an excellent "recharge" after a day of hiking and exploration. In the evenings before dining we took full advantage of the Internet, cable TV, and comfy reading chairs in the living room. The windows throughout the apartment provide fresh cool air when we desired it, and plenty of sunlight in the morning and late afternoons.

The kitchen is fully equipped with all you need for dining in, or simply relaxing with a cup of tea in the morning. The bathroom provided the option of a hot shower or a warm bath, and the linens and soaps were a perfect compliment to feeling refreshed and renewed.

The owners were fabulous hosts with great knowledge of the city. They were readily available when we needed a suggestion or recommendation. Their guidebook to the city that is available in the apartment is a great resource for your visit.

By reserving this place you really can't go wrong!

Home away from home

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I stayed here and loved it! The location makes it very easy to get almost anywhere. Castro street is just down the road and it made getting to places so easy. We stayed in Portrero Hill two years ago and while nice, preferred this location. The flat is nice and comfortable. At times we would spend the entire day with windows open just reading and relaxing. It really was wonderful. I'm an avid runner and found this location to be a great central hub to go on runs and explore a bit given how close we were to many landmarks. One side note, some may complain about parking, but really it was not a challenge at all. If you are okay with walking just a bit you'll have no trouble. Just mind the street signs and parking will be a distant memory. We stayed for 7 days and never had a problem with parking. This includes during the pride parade that was taking place upon our arrival. You really can't miss with this spot as the hosts are very prompt and gracious. We would most definitely consider staying here again.

PERFECT IN EVERY WAYS

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for 10 days in May 2014 before flying off to Las Vegas. The apartment is very spacious and has everything we needed: dishwasher, large refrigerator, microwave, flat screen cable TV, and Internet access. The bed was really comfortable. The apartment is light and airy with easy access via a back staicase to a private garen. A tradional san Francisco apartment as you might see on the movies.

The place was immaculate and came complete with all the kitchen supplies we needed. There's a full sized cooker We really felt at home. Also a big plus was how quiet and peaeful it was.

Barbara and Bill who live in the lower part of this large house were very attentive and always there if we needed anything.

The location is on a residential street in an upmarket neighborhood and within easy reach of everthing you may need including the Metro. Everything is within walking distance - a Mollie Stone's grocery store, a 24 hour Walgreen's, the trolly car and public transportation, cafe bars.

We loved this place and consider it our home away from home. We would like to stay here again soon!

Thanks again Barbara and Bill for making our holiday from the UK very memorable and special.

Highly recommend!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at this property for 2 1/2 weeks this fall. From the moment we arrived, we knew we had found a true winner! The property is immaculate, spacious with a fully-equipped kitchen, bathroom with amenities, high quality linens, super comfy bed in a perfect location. Walking distance from Mollie Stone's, available parking, in the heart of the safe and lively Castro -- we couldn't have asked for a better location. The owner greeted us warmly (including a tasty bottle of Pinot Noir!) , oriented us and delivered to us fresh linens every 4 or so days. We have stayed at numerous VRBO rentals and this one is absolutely tops! We look forward to returning!
