About Laurie Windham
This house is the beloved home of the owner, who is currently away producing the world premiere of her first rock musical. A writer, marketing consultant, singer and horse lover, the owner has chosen to share her precious crib rather than close it up for the duration of her absence. While for some allowing strangers into your home is unimaginable, the owner derives so much joy from her colorful, art-filled home, that she hopes others will share in that happy experience. She also cannot abide by 'no-pets' rules and hopes to change those unfriendly policies one place at a time.
Laurie Windham purchased this bungalow in 2009
Why Laurie Windham chose Healdsburg
From the moment I walked up to this house, I loved it. The front-porch and gigantic shade tree in the front yard hooked me before I ever when inside. While I've done extensive renovations, I've always liked the floor plan, as I prefer my living spaces to be free flowing, open and at the same time intimate. Having lots of light matters to me, so I enjoy the large windows and french doors.
What makes this bungalow unique
I enjoy sitting on the front porch, reading the paper and speaking to the people walking by. Healdsburg is a walker's town--it seems everyone walks, to the park, to movies, to restaurants. And, there are so many kinds of dogs getting walked. To my Scotties' delight, from our front porch, we see quite a variety on their way to Giorgi Park, a popular destination for dogs and their owners. And, of course, barking is mandatory.
July 4th is a big day on my block, as it's the site of a huge block party extravaganza. Live bands, all kinds of BBQ, games, beer, wine, adults, kids--it's truly amazing--and it's all in front of my house. Since my front yard is picket-fenced, my 50 best friends and I drag out the lawn chairs and enjoy the party from our own private lawn. Way cool.
