Photos and Description of the Evora region vacation rental 3kms outside historic Elvas, 8kms Spain, use of pool and poolside facilities

Self-catering 1 bed cottage set in grounds of English owners romantic country house with double bedroom, spacious en-suite shower-room, kitchen, lounge, terrace and covered patio, BBQ, fridge/freezer. Sofa bed in lounge. Orange and olive groves. Use of main house swimming pool and huge poolside BBQ, boule court, darts, large shaded poolside area. Main house is a bed and breakfast with 4 rooms (2 twin and 2 double). (For further information as the email address, please, do not hesitate to contact the owner of the property). English owners live on site and are happy to share printed info on the area.

Nearest Airport: Lisbon at 200 Kilometres
Nearest Motorway: A6 at 6 Kilometres
Car: recommended
Historic Elvas 3km. Spanish border 8km. Good information in house for car/bike tours and walks in the countryside and the nearby marble towns and other beautiful villages. This was a fiercely fought frontier area with fantastic castles and battle sites, including Wellington and the British! Walking in the nearby Sao Mamede National Park (1 hour drive) or by the River Guardiana, about 8km from the Quinta. Good bird watching locally, including private access through the owners to an interesting rice field site.

The Owners: The English owners, Tim and Ann, live and work on site and have good knowledge of most aspects of the area. We are particularly interested in plants, butterflies, birds, fauna, history and the people of the area. We run a small garden nursery on site and have a fortnightly market stall.

Inspired by the BBC Cork- Forest in a Bottle we choose Ann & Tim's cottage for a walking, cycling and exploring holiday of this area, we were rewarded with a perfect holiday. Walks to the Guardiana, cycle rides to Sao Eulalia, Vial Viciosa, birding at the embalse, visits to Marvao, Monsaraz, Evora & Estremoz all spectacular and stunning places without hordes of people.

Not to mention Elvas & the Peninsular War Cemetery rememberance day.

Very friendly people and amazing wildlife, we fell in love with Hoopoes and Bee Eaters as well as all the raptors, it was like Botswana with only the big game missing.

A bonus was Brittany Ferries sailing from Portsmaouth this year.

We've loved it - the couple is so kind that we would stay more time but work called us!

My baby son (33 months) adore it because of SUNNY the house female dog and because of the tractor and the swimmingpool!
It is great when you can go out from city appartment and get rural experiences like this
For all not used to sun and high temperatures be aware - in mid june we caugh 41 degrees shade! buy a good sun blocker and do not forget the hat!
