Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)

This property offers 100 feet on West Grand Traverse Bay across from Power island. Half way up the dock is a sitting deck with adirondeck chairs- perfect for reading and catching some rays. Sit there in the early evening at sunset to experience the changing colors of the sky.

When the bay is calm -especially early morning or late in the day-there is a 2 person kayak and life jackets available for your use. If you prefer to bring your boat, we have a a public launch 5 minutes north. We have a fire pit down at the water for bonfires and roasting marshmallows. You can toast to downtown Traverse City aglow to the South and see the stars shining like you can't believe. It creates an evening experience that you don't want to end.

This carriage house apartment is decorated in fun beachy colors with white trim. There is second floor deck with waterview and gas grill. Interior offers a kitchen with electric stove and cooking utensils. Living room has tv with cable, internet(not wireless), dvd player- couch converts to full bed . Bathroom is fun UPNorth style with beadboard, large tiled shower and antique wicker vanity with vessel sink. The bedroom has a queen bed (awesomely great mattress) and walk in closet. This unit could sleep 6 if a blow up bed was used.

About Nancy

We are an active working couple who moved into what was our Traverse City cottage 6 years ago. That is when we built the carriage house with the apartment above so there would be room for our children to come visit. We have 2 dogs on site- Parker- the old guy- a 12 year old Irish Setter and Scrappy, our 4 yr old rescue Australian Sheperd mutt.

We are avid golfers, love wine ,art and music- which is why we found this to be an area perfect for us. It's amazing how many people we have met since living here who are so much like ourselves.

We are husband and wife home builder/remodelers- Grand Bay Building and Remodeling. We moved our business Up North from the Pinckney Chain of Lakes Area of Livingston County. We wanted to be somewhere our children and future grandchildren would loved to come and visit. Traverse City and Leelanau County have far surpassed our expectations. We absolutely love the activity and social aspects of the area. If you are looking for things to do and see- we can be very helpful.

We totally understand couples who are looking to move to the area. That's why we love the business that we're in- we can make the dream happen for others like we did for ourselves!

Why Nancy chose Traverse City

We used to come up north with our oldest son's travel soccer team for tournaments. Over a five year span, the entire family looked forward to our week here in August. We decided to look for a cottage that we could eventually move to when all of the kids were out of high school.

We checked out the entire area over the years- we knew that we needed parking- so some of those small lots right on a road were not for us. We also knew we would be working and needed to be close to town for meetings, supplies etc. Being just north of Traverse City allows us to miss the summer traffic from festivals and hotels on a daily basis. We are within 10 minutes of the action when we want it and we can enjoy wonderful Leelanau County every day.

Our place is located down at the water on a 1 acre site. M-22 is a wonderful access road to everything but we have lots of privacy and parking- exactly what fit our needs.

This area offers much in the way of entertainment.- The Dennos Museum always offers a wonderful exhibit and music performances in the Milliken Auditorium. There are many art galleries to showcase the talent here in Northern Michigan. Two small theatres: The State Theater downton Traverse City and The Bay in Suttons Bay are restored wonderful old theaters featuring great movies. Interlochen for the Performing Arts is a venue for wonderful music performances. Traverse City has The Old Town Playhouse for community theater.

The list goes on- as members of the 2 local Chamber of Commerces we have a really good source of knowledge for what's happening.

What makes this apartment unique

Vic and the dogs fish the Bay for salmon and lake trout so our boat is set with downriggers. We can boat to dinner from our dock-north to Omena Point and Suttons Bay or south to Scott's Harbor Grill. This is why we love West Bay- there are great places to travel to by boat . Sometimes we'll take a bottle of wine out on the boat to the island and watch the sun set and the moon rise. During Cherry Fest, we motor down by West End Beach and listen to music from the Cherry Festival Stage. We can anchor by the Holiday Inn on Friday nights and relax to music. Nothing beats watching the Air Show and fireworks from the water. Being located between Suttons Bay and TC has been perfect for us. Both have wonderful downtowns and restaurants. Festivals are a huge thing in this area and we're located close to all of them.

We are near the trails for biking, hiking and cross country skiing. We happen to love our closest golf course- The Leelanau Club.

The best thing about this place- you can hear the nosies of the bay- water lapping or waves crashing, seagulls & ducks, wooshing as swans lift off. The bay calms you down and brings you back to nature. We think it's a wonderful place and would really miss it.

Cozy

We chose this for a quiet New Year's Eve getaway. It is adorable and very comfy cozy with a nice view of the lake. It is spotlessly clean, something I always appreciate. We had a great time being lazy, but we also enjoyed getting out for some snowshoeing and sledding. The location is about a 10 minute drive from downtown Traverse City, which was just fine for us. I would definitely rent this place again and will recommend it to friends.

Peaceful, relaxing beach house

After spending a week in this adorable nest above the garage of the owners home I would highly recommend the setting, the house and the owners to anyone. The beach house was decorated very appropriately and everything was neat, clean and in great condition. My husband and I spent a week there and would gladly return in the future. The owners are great people, very friendly and helpful and interested in our comfort. Thank you for a great stay!!

We are so glad we found your place for our trip to Cherry Fest this year! Wanted something that felt like a beach cottage on the water and this was exactly what we found with your place! Cottage had great detail in construction, loved the decor & very clean and spacious! Washer/Dryer would have been a great bonus-but we had family in the area for that! Thanks again for sharing your place with us!

Great vacation in Traverse City

We have been traveling to Traverse City for several years staying in hotels. We were very please with the "cottage", it was actually a little bigger than we anticipated. There was plenty of room for a double air matress. It was decorated so cute with everything we needed, even a gas grill on the deck!
Recommended for:  Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

Down By The Bay

What an amazing vacation spot! The carriage house is completely delectable-from the location to the owners to the tropical color pallette! We were far enough out to feel peace and quiet but close enough to get to many spectacular places. We really enjoyed going to the Aroma Coffee Shop just before Traverse City. I would return again and again!!!
