public transport:
An extensive bus network serves the whole region and all sking areas. The buses leave/return to Lauenen regularly towards Gstaad, where one can connect to the other routes and also to the train network. There are trains to the other skiing areas as well as an hourly train to either Geneva or Zurich, both city centres and airports.
walking and hiking:
11 mountains offer 300 km of walking and hiking trails. Many paths leave from Lauenen in all directions, with various degrees of difficulty. For the adventurous, several mountain huts, high up the mountains, offer refreshments, food or overnight accommodation. During the winter months there are also many winter-hiking trails.
other activities:
Three Olympics size pools in the area, two outdoor. Several different tennis courts, in and outdoor, clay and hard surface. Bikes and mountain bikes can be rented easily.
Ski:
The 62 lifts of the Gstaad area offer 250 km of slopes. The nearest slopes are 10 minute drive, Schoenried skiing area 15 minutes drive and the 3000 meter high glacier, Glacier 3000, is 20 minutes drive away. The glacier offers skiing from October to May, with guaranteed snow during the main winter months. Lauenen has its own ski lift, 5 minutes walk away, for the beginner or children. Lauenen also has one of the most beautiful Langlauf slope in the are, 8km long through a stunning nature preserve. Off-piste and Heli-skiing is available. Gstaad has an ice skating ring and curling ring.
Golf:
The golf club Gstaad-Saanenland is one of the most beautiful 18 hole courses in the country. The course is generally open from mid-May to end of October, subject to weather conditions. The course may be played for non-members with a handicap of 36 validated. Independent golfers e.g. ASGI, VCG, or league Française may play at an increased green fee. The club offers a driving range, pitching green, putting green, pro shop and delicious restaurant
