My family has enjoyed vacationing on Bay Lake for over 70 years - 6 generations. We have made many memories and many friends here in the area. In 2011 we found a place of our own on Bay Lake that offered lake access and a lake view. But in 2014 we could not pass up the opportunity to own a lake front home on Bay Lake. We are ready to make many more memories with family and friends.
The public access for boat launching is just 6 miles away. Need to rent a boat? Bay Lake Marine offers affordable rentals and is located next to the public access launch. Bay Lake Camp/Church Island pontoon shuttle is available at 16257 Brighton Point Road, about a 7 mile drive. Take the pontoon shuttle to the island and enjoy outdoor church services, open to the public, held each Sunday during the summer. Shuttle starts running at 9:30am.
The Brainerd Lakes area offers something for everyone: Heartland Hockey camp is just 6 miles away. Mille Lacs Lake, Minnesota’s premier Walleye factory, is a short 10 minute drive and 20 minutes from Mille Lacs Grand Casino. A variety of golf courses, tennis courts, restaurants, movies, antique shops, amusement parks, miniature golf courses, museums, and shopping are all a short drive away. Enjoy the world class 25-mile mountain bike trails, covering 800 acres in the Cuyuna’s County State Recreation Area near Crosby. Other activities in the Cuyuna’s County State Recreation Area include scuba diving and fishing for Rainbow and Brook Trout. Into auto racing? Brainerd International Raceway is just 30 minutes away. Take a short 1 1/2 hour drive to Duluth on Lake Superior to see the large iron ore boats come in on the ship canal and tour the famous lighthouses of Two Harbors and Split Rock.
This was our second time staying at this vacation property. Again this visit was outstanding. The fish were biting and we ended the week with a tasty meal of fish. The weather was also great, so we were able to enjoy the large backyard. We also attend church services at Church Island - that is always a treat to spend the service with Mother Nature. We are looking forward to another return visit in the very near future.
Five Star Review
Our second stay at this fine lake home! Our group numbered 7 this year; accommodations suited us. Back yard was good for bocce ball and other yard games! We had great weather. The mosquitoes were fierce this summer so do come prepared with repellent! It is after all summer at the lake! We were sad to learn that the area appears not to do recycling any longer, We brought our recyclables home for disposal.
We rented this house in July 2013 for a week and found it to be very clean, comfortable and spacious. With 2 teenagers we had plenty of room to spread out. We have friends that have a cabin on Bay Lake and spent most of our time at their beach. Bay Lake is outstanding, great fishing, boating and swimming. Theresa, the owner was great to deal with. We are planning on coming again!
Four professional women and I shared this great lake home over the 4th of July weekend to play in an annual golf tournament at Rutgers. The home was spotless and very comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped, beds are very good, and the yard is great for outdoor games.
One possible negative was the taste of the water. We were glad we had brought bottled water to drink. (We knew in advance that at times the water has an odor - the owner had told us so.)
The weather was warm and humid during our stay so we were glad to have air conditioning.
We dined at the Deerstand and Lonesome Pine - two of our favorite spots in the area and shopped at the Christmas store in Baxter.
We are hoping to be able to stay here again next summer and would surely recommend this VRBO to others without hesitation.
Our family enjoyed our stay at this Bay Lake home for 3 nights; June 13 - 16. My wife and I, along with our four children, plus Grandma & Grandpa found this home to be the perfect setup the 8 of us. The house was very spacious; we really liked the open floor plan. There is definite pride of ownership here as every room was extremely neat, clean and comfortable. The house had all the comforts of home. Couldn't have asked for better weather - we opened the windows each day which brought a nice comfortable breeze inside. Each evening we had a great time playing games around the dining room table (a HUGE selection of board games was provided!) We brought our bicycles and enjoyed several leisurely bike rides along the quiet and scenic lake-shore road. The owner was also very responsive, friendly and helpful during all of our interactions. Mille Lacs is nearby and Brainerd is only 20-30 minutes away, so if you're looking for a nice place to stay in the Brainerd Lakes Area and don't want to pay the pricey rates to be directly on the water then I highly recommend this home. We will be back!
A group of friends and I spent a weekend at this beautiful home! There was plenty of space for the 9 of us. The house has a large backyard, great for yard games and a bonfire. The owner was very helpful and provided restaurant recommendations. We had a great Saturday night dinner at Zigs which is just a short drive away!
