Guestbook comments from the owner
Sharon's home is beautiful and wonderfully located. Coffee on the back porch and the beautiful Victorian architectural details were highlights. Check-in and out was easy, and Sharon offered great recommendations on yummy places to eat in the area. Pictures shown are exactly what the house looks like and more. Next time I'm in Austin, I don't want to stay anywhere else.

This house is very sentimental for us, as we took a year and a half to restore this former abandoned house back to the architectual integrity that was the Victorian era. Each phase of the renovation made us fall more and more in love with this house and what it represented. We are very please to share this property with others so that they may also experience what we know... this is a very special house.

The Owner purchased this house in 1991

Austin is such a dynamic, energetic and fun city, being downtown is where its at. The vibe one gets from being on the Eastside is truly unique. There is so much to do just within walking distance or a short drive. UT games, SXSW, Austin City Limits Festival, Zilker Park, 6th street, Congress Avenue, Town Lake, and so much more.

The Texas State Cemetery is just a stone's throw away. This is not a traditional cemetary in any way. It is more a park with a pond, rolling hills and lush landscaping.

I WANT TO LIVE HERE!

  • 5 of 5
We have been all over the USA during the past 3 months (on a road trip) staying in a combination of private properties (VRBO), hotels and motels and Texas was our 25th state. Our attempt to enjoy a restful two week vacation within a vacation, in busy Austin, may not have worked out so well if we had not found this gem of a property. This is easily the place where we have felt the most relaxed, comfortable and pleased with ourselves because we chose it. The 15-20 minute walk to the main drag on 6th and the quaint bars on Rainey Street is an ideal distance because allows you to party in town till the early hours and then retreat to the oasis of tranquillity that is the area surrounding this house. Perfect for those next day hangovers unless tweeting birds seriously annoy you.
The tastefully furnished house has been covered in other reviews and I will just say that the look of the house from street level is really deceiving as the inside space is huge with what is virtually a whole separate apartment on the lower level (kitchen upstairs).
Sharon is a most helpful and thoughtful owner who kindly left a selection of local Texas beers in the fridge for our arrival and it was a pleasure to rent from such a considerate lady. If I am ever lucky enough to take a vacation in Austin in the future I will be disappointed if this place is not available but I will understand why.

n.b. There are other things to do in Austin than drink alcohol.

BEAUTIFUL, COMFORTABLE HOME TO RENT FOR A LONG WEEKEND!

  • 5 of 5
I traveled to Austin with a group of 7 other women (ages 25-30) for a bachelorette weekend. This home was absolutely perfect! It was beautiful and spacious and had everything we needed. The 8 of us fit very comfortably, with multiple living spaces throughout the house. There is also a wonderful little deck and outdoor space if you're looking for some relaxation on nice days. There are a few coffee shops/restaurants right down the street and the home is only about 1 mile from downtown (we didn't have a car for part of the weekend and had no problem). The owner of the home made check in/check out VERY easy and stress-free, and we felt as if we had nothing to worry about once we arrived in Austin. All 8 of us have said that we would highly recommend this home to any of our friends or family and are hoping to go back some day!

40TH BIRTHDAY WEEKEND

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful time on our trip. Plenty of space in the house, great location. House was easy for everyone to find. Easy parking on street. We did have a few cars...since we all drove from different places. First night we walked to restaurant for dinner. After dinner, we used rickshaw bikes to go out to 4th/6th street area and used them to come home. We were going to call cabs but rickshaws were so convenient. Walked to cool food trucks and a coffee shop a few times. Basically ate, drank, shopped and hung out with girlfriends (and a couple husbands). Oh, I should add... Easy communication with owner. Very nice, checked in with us after we arrived. My husband spoke to her since I may have been having a nice glass of wine on the porch.

AWESOME PLACE. AWESOME HOST.

  • 5 of 5
The place was fantastic. Had everything we could have need inside, and was a perfect location (really close to downtown, and plenty of restaurants and shops within 200 yards).

On top of that, Sharon was a fantastic host. Really nice and helpful, and easy to communicate with.

I would definitely recommend this place to other visitors, and I plan to come back in the near future!

GREAT HOUSE IN A WONDERFUL LOCATION

  • 5 of 5
The house was very large with ample accommodations and amenities. Toiletries were supplied and the owner left a gift basket which was a nice touch. We were here for SXSW and it was in a really awesome neighborhood; close to tons of events and walking distance to downtown/the heart of 6th street. The owner was very sweet, responsive and attentive and let us checkout late as we explained we had an evening flight. Would rent again.

Our first trip to Austin and what a treat to stay downtown in a gorgeous home. Lots of space, great beds & walk to 6th street or any great restaurants in the neighborhood. Funny, we heard chicken in the am, how cute.
