San Miguel Vacation Rental villa: El Roque

The bedrooms were all spacious, clean and well decorated. All have full ensuite facilities. Some guests may find the wardrobes a bit antiquated.

The kitchen was well equipped. The kettle takes a while to boil and there is no cafetiere, there is an espresso maker and a cona type machine but both a bit slow for an addict like me.

The pool is small but has jacuzzi jets. We still managed to have fun with a lilo despite the smallness of the pool.

There are sunbeds with slightly grubby matresses but beach towels to cover them were provided.

The formal dining room is quite grand.

There are 2 sitting rooms so the place never felt crowded with 6 of us.

We were there in April and found the house a bit chilly. Having the open fire was lovely but bags of logs cost 8 euros and only lasted one night.

The garden is lovely, we liked its unkempt quality. The gardeners were there twice to water so you do not have to bother with that.

There is not much within walking distance..one supermarket and a restaurant. We ate there one evening and were the only guests. The food was plentiful but a little pedestrian. The dining room only held one table and the room was cold.

Rosemary and David the English caretakers were very pleasant and only a phone call away if needed.

We found the coastal regions pretty awful but there is fabulous walking above the clouds in the Nacional Parque de Teide which we thoroughly enjoyed. We would come back for the walking.

The photos make the house look like it stands on its own but it is pretty well hemmed in by other properties and it is on quite a busy road. Having said that we were not disturbed by anyone. Parking is not great but will perfect your hill start technique!
Barking dogs are a definite problem in this area and would put me off coming back.

I suspect that had we had better weather we would have been more effusive in our praise of this house.
You must have a car really.
