A further similar cove (Cala Mendia) is also just a short walk (1000 metres) away. Both beaches have their own beach bars and sun-beds and 'tropical island type' straw umbrellas are available for those who just want to chill out and relax. Shops, bars and a good selection of restaurants are all within walking distance and there is also a branch of Banca March bank conveniently situated, along with a cash dispenser machine.

Mallorca, Casa Bonita

EGMP Germany
Review Submitted: August 9, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We stayed at the Casa Bonita for 2 weeks in summer. My husband, me and our 11year old daughter and niece. We all enjoyed our stay very much. The pool was perfect for all of us and of course the children enjoyed it the most! The location of the house so close to the beach is just wonderful and everything (like the breakfeast baguettes and croissants) in short walking distance. Air condition in every bedroom makes it very comfortable even on the hottest days. The house is very nice and comfortable and the yard and patio is pretty, too. The owners are very friendly and supported us in every way!
Thank you for the nice vacation!
Owner's Response: Thanks for the lovely comments. This review is typical of the comments which we receive for both of our Porto Cristo villas - Casa Bonita at Cala Anguila and Villa Novo Puerto at Calle Mandia.

Review Submitted: November 4, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We had good communications when booking the Villa and directions from the airport were very good. Whilst we were there we met with the owners of the villa who live in Majorca.

We were disappointed with the Villa as the fixtures and fittings felt old and a little shabby. The A/C worked well in both bedrooms but did not give any relief to the rest of the Villa. The bathroom was clean but with no bath it was a let down that the shower was so basic. After the owner’s unannounced visit turning on the garden sprinkler altered the temperature in the shower whilst we were using it. There was equipment in the kitchen for basic cooking but it was a lot smaller than expected and awkward when preparing larger meals. It was a must to keep all areas spotlessly clean as the villa suffered from ant problems. There was no power near the CD unit and so it and speakers had to be moved prior to its use. There were no batteries in any of the remotes on arrival. The majority of connections surrounding the TV had again been altered and left not working by the previous tenants. The safe was also broken. The outside shower was unusable and although there was a note to say that a part had been ordered nothing materialised during our stay.

The pool was lovely and a real plus to the Villa, although it was recommended that when using the pool the house remained locked as it would be difficult to monitor its security as the entrance way was gateless, which was awkward for the children needing to get in and out of the house.

We stripped the beds after the first week, as asked, but the villa would have benefited from a mid fortnight clean.

The area was lovely and quiet and the beaches nearby were beautiful.

We did have a lovely holiday but feel strongly that it was overpriced and more surprised that its price has been put up still further for next season.
Owner's Response: This review, submitted around two months after the clients holiday does not reflect the majority of guests views about the property. Verbal and telephone cals to the owners have praised Casa Bonita in almost every aspect. Steps have been take to remedy the outside shower problem, which is a major operation, due to fact that the supply to the shower head is buried in the house wall, and is having to be escavated to fine the problem. This could not be done during the summer when the house was occupied. The safe was replaced as soon as possible after the client drew the owner's attention to it. Ants are endemic in Mallorca. They are easy to eliminate by the villa occupants, and prevention is even simpler. Air conditioning is intentionally avoided in the lounge/ dining area. It is 'open-plan' and the electrictity useage in such a situation would be unmanageable, as it is inevitable that outsied doors would be constantly open.

Overpriced

David and Maria Manchester, England
Review Submitted: September 28, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
We were genuinely disappointed when we arrived but made the best of things. To be fair we arrived early and the owner was still cleaning the villa, he was friendly and helpful and even put our shopping away for us.
They did not come back at all during our stay to check everything was OK even though they did visit adjoining villa's to prepare them for other visitors.

The villa was in need of updating, the bathroom, while almost clean was dated, the kitchen was in need of modernising, the bedrooms were a good size but the beds were uncomfortable, the air conditioning worked a treat.
The pool was great but the poolside furniture was old, one hard bed with a mildewed sponge cover and 2 plastic suspended beds that had long since lost their suspension, There was a lilo which looked like it had been floating in a swamp for three months and dead plants all around the villa, my wife described it as needing a woman’s touch, it really was not good enough. The villa is not worth what we paid.

The good points, The Albatross Restaurant 100 metres away served excellent food and offered a warm welcome, another 100 metres down some steps and you were on a fantastic sandy beach.

The villa is situated on a housing estate and a car is a must, there are some good shops nearby but a lack of choice for eating out in the evening, the local area seemed a little run down and Porto Romantica despite the name was more like Toxteth by the sea.

The saving grace for this villa was the pool even though it was next to a quiet road the privacy was maintained with a hedge, the pool seemed a recent addition but was not quite finished.

There was a shower for the pool but this was unusable, it was fixed to a wall and even a contortionist would struggle to use it, a note in the villa said they were waiting for parts but it had clearly been like this for some time.

Fundamentally the villa was fine it just needs a small amount of money spending on furniture and fittings to bring it up to standard.

The communication with the agent was very good and there were no problems with arrangements.

A good week despite the quality of the villa's fixtures and fittings
Owner's Response: Owner Response,
This review does not match comments of previous guests, which, together with phone and written observations, are very complimentary.
The house is occupied right throught the winter months as a main residence and fixtures and fittings reflect our preferences.
Most of the negative comments ( ie. sun-beds, old lilo, dead plants.etc.) could have been remedied by one phone call whilst in the resort, and steps have been taken to address these elements.
The property has been well booked right through 2008 and 2009 with no guests adverse comments at all, and a full check of all of the fixtures, fittings etc. is being done prior to the 2010 season.

Excellant holiday villa

Lesley - Solihull
Review Submitted: May 27, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
My husband and I took my mother in law to this villa, and it was absolutely perfect. Quiet location, all facilites to hand, and roadside parking at the front of the property. The property was well equipped for our needs and was well kept and clean. Best bits - the walk to the local beach - only five minutes and one of the best beaches we have ever used - and the wonderful choice of sitting out areas around the property. We breakfasted on the patio ( shady a.m) and then used the poolside during the day ( always in the sun) There were sunbeds for 4, and further 2 sitting areas including a shady evening spot with chairs and an ice bucket.....next time perhaps we will do champagne at sunset !

My husband and I went there for our first wedding anniversary and really enjoyed it. The owner came and greeted us a few days after we had arrived to make sure that everything was ok.
It is an ideal place to be to explore the island and in fact we did 1000 miles whilst were were there.
The local neighbourhood is extremely quiet and we were able to sleep at night without any noisy bars around etc
