Blanchdown Farm enjoys a unique setting on the beautiful Devon bank of the Tamar River. The Barn is a high quality conversion of the main farm building. The farm is near the centre of the Tamar Valley, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which has also recently been nominated as a World Heritage site as a result of its mining history. The Barn benefits from limestone, marble and oak floors, with underfloor heating in the bedrooms, radiators and a wood burner in the living area. Guests are free to explore the fields and woodland walks on the farm, picnics on the river banks are popular. There are numerous activities in the immediate surrounding area, with access to walks, rides and cycle tracks either adjoining the farm or nearby.

Notes: The property is not suitable for very young children because of the proximity of the Tamar River which forms the western boundary of the property and due to ponds and streams on the farm. Steps in the master bedroom may not suit the very elderly or people with mobility difficulties, no ramps or hand rails. Unfortunately, unsuitable for invalids or wheelchair bound. Sorry, no pets, even the most well behaved and lovely ones.

Wonderful place to stay

This is a brilliant place to stay. The barn is very comfortable and well-appointed. The owner makes you feel very welcome and the basket of food she supplies is excellent - it contains everything you need for a couple of days. The location is good - not far from Tavistock and Plymouth and right on the border with Cornwall so the Eden Project is only an hour's drive away. The farm is in a lovely setting near the River Tamar with fields and woods to walk through. We would certainly go again. My husband and I and our daughter and her boyfriend all agreed that we had a wonderful holiday here.

We are a family with teenagers and our unanimous opinion is that this was the best holiday home we've ever been to. It is furnished very well, the kitchen is excellent, the location beautiful and very quiet, the owners are very concerned and caring and the basket with food that awaited us, when we arrived, was very thoughtfully packed. There were fresh flowers in the house, so we really felt at home right away. There is so much one can do and see in the area that we'll gladly come back one day - just hope for better weather.

Ideal "get away from it all" spot. Loads to do and see in the area and then retreat to the peace and tranquility of the farm - and the views !!
Great walks around the farm itself.
Barn conversion had everything I expected from country living but with all the mod-cons. Spotlessly clean and a welcome basket which was gratefully received.
Highly recommended.

What a place

This is one of the best cottages we have visited. The interior is beautiful, very cosy. Wonderful bathroom and bedrooms. Excelent kitchen. All clean.
The customer service was very good as well. When we arrived, there was plenty of food for several days with fresh bread, fruit and vegetables and even local sausages.
There was a small problem with some leakage, but this was handled excellently. The owner was really concerned with our well being.
The surrounding woods are beautiful, great walking. Easy access to the town of Tavistock.
We will definitely be coming back and would recommend it to friends.
